Yeah, saw that earlier this morning. Guess I don't know the origins of the story or if this somehow ties in with Avatar: The Last Airbender (which that teaser seemed pretty cool), but I have zero interest in seeing this unless I am proven otherwise with a deeper, more likable understanding on what this story is really about.

It has nothing to do with the Avatar cartoon, it's a movie James Cameron has been trying to make for around 15 years.

That looks amazing. This has nothing to do with The Last Airbender by the way.

15 years? Why'd it take so long?

He wanted to make it once the technology was able to keep up with what he wanted to do.

Thanks, didn't know that. It's just strange that the movies are sort of coming out around the same time and could cause confusion for people that were intrigued in seeing one but fall into watching the other. Just like when The Prestige and The Illusionist came out around the same time. Some people just don't do enough research and are misled.

I gotta say that's a pretty cool trailer from what i've read on wikipedia this movie has the potential to be a real good and INTELLIGENT sci-fi flick.

This is what James Cameron has been doing for the last 10 years. He created new 3-D camera and a new 3-D shooting technique just for this film. It's going to be the next Matrix in terms how it turns the movie industry on its head

Interesting. I mean I went to see what people on IMDb are saying about this (I know, right?), but they are all clamoring about the CGI, both positively and negatively. I guess I don't really think about it too much when I see CGI now that blatantly looks like CGI and I pass it off as only "okay" when I have other things to compare it to and say that I've seen better, but really I don't know if I have seen better with regard to what they're trying to do.

I mean these are day time shots and "organic," this isn't night time or "mech" CGI (there is some, but I'm referring to the blue dudes here). The Matrix Revolutions still looks fantastic today, but I have to remember that even when it is Neo and Smith battling you get a lot of things masked with the night time and the rain. Here, it will be looking to surpass King Kong and such, and it just very well may, especially in IMAX scope.

Glad to see there's such an enduring project that has been in the works, and for that reason alone it may compel me to see it.

                        King Kong's CGI was terrible.

Yeah that was some of the worst CGI I've ever seen, which didn't make sense since everything else Peter Jackson is involved in looks great.

It was good, it just didn't look real. It was a stupendous effort considering about half of the movie was CGI and on such a grand scale.

So it looked fake, but it was still a very good effort, and the best that they could do in 2005.
