KiD CuDi - Man on the Moon: The End of Day

Act I: The End of Day
    1) In My Dreams (Cudder Anthem)
    2) Soundtrack 2 My Life
    3) Simple As

Act II: Rise of the Night Terrors
    4) Mr Solo Dolo
    5) Heart of a Lion (KiD CuDi Theme Music)
    6) My World (ft. Billy Cravens)

    Act III: Taking a Trip
    7) Day N' Nite
    8) Sky Might Fall
    9) Enter Galactic (Love Connection Part 1)

    Act IV: Stuck
    10) Alive (ft. Ratatat)
    11) Cudi Zone
    12) Make Her Say (ft. Kanye West & Common)
    13) Pursuit of Happiness (ft. MGMT)

    Act V: A New Beginning
    14) Hyyerr (ft. Chip Tha Ripper)
    15) Up Up & Away

It comes out next week but lets just say I "heard it" last night and leave it at that.

Anyways, I know there's alot of people that don't like Cudi but I liked it. I didn't think it was gonna be as good as it is. It isn't a classic or anything like that but after listening to Blueprint III which was disappointing and then hearing this was a good surprise.

My top 5 songs (not in any specific order) would probably be Cudi Zone, Hyyerr, Sky Might Fall, Soundtrack 2 My Life and Pursuit of Happiness. Day N' Nite and Make Her Say are good as well but everyone's already heard those songs.

Another thing I like with this CD is how Cudi gave it kind of a movie feel with the seperate acts and Common narrating.

So for those that heard it, what do you think?

Is this a concept album? Does each song tell another part of the same story?

I guess you could call it a concept album. It feels like one big movie. The songs themself are more just telling the story of Cudi himself.

If you want a good review of the album here is the link.

I’ve got to be honest – when I first set foot into the listening session for Kid Cudi’s long awaited debut Man on the Moon: The End of Day, I was completely skeptical. Cudi, who wowed me once with …

Oh yeah, I should of mentioned if anyone is going into this CD expecting a rap album it isn't really that.

Figured I'd bump this since the CD comes out tomorrow and I'm sure alot of people have heard it by now.

I'm still listening to this and barely skipping any songs. Cudi isn't the greatest lyricist or anything but I really like the beats on this and just his overall sound.

So for those that have heard it, what do you think?

              Edit:

Spoke too soon, this album is pretty much garbage aside from 3 or 4 tracks

Which ones do you think aren't garbage? Not calling you out or anything, just curious.

I don't mean to say those who like it have bad taste at all..

Your top 5 songs are ones that can get play from me.

Other than that, I would have to be stoned to like his music. Same with his mixtape. I don't have any moods for the kind of music he makes.

But the tracks you named in your OP are pretty good

lol yeah, makes it even better. Hyyerr could be an all-time getting high song, imo.

On another note, the only songs I've been skipping so far have been Solo Dolo, Enter Galactic and In My Dreams. Other than that a pretty solid debut album for Cudi.

I don't smoke, so usually don't like the "stoner" genre of anything.

This album isn't for me. It has elements of Coldplay, NIN, Kanye and other things involving beats accompanied by a strange blend of vocals, but it doesn't land on any of the stuff I like. He's not as clever as Lupe, but doesn't sing as well as Maynard. The music is in this lazy, mellow area that makes me sleepy, rather than connects with any emotion, and at times I wonder if the people who put this album together are smart enough for the themes they are trying to tackle.

I think this is a good step for the hip hop crowd(hipster hop? I threw up in my mouth when I read that), but it's definitely not for me. Wouldn't be surprised if this started a trend though. I see a lot of younger people connecting with this, especially the "cool kids" who live on the fringe of hip hop.

I think it's in that review you linked to. That's what they are calling Kid Cudi's style. Make me nauseous.
