If you don't mind the price tag, it's the perfect solution for capturing HD footage. I use it to capture video game videos and it serves me well.
The only complaint is that the video captured is in .TS or M2TS and not many edit softwares have support for it. Your best bet is to have a recent copy of Sony Vegas. Otherwise you would have to convert the videos before editing which takes approximately 7 times the video length. -

I've only tested it with the demo for Sony Vegas Pro but it certainly works for it and quite smoothly I might add. The M2TS format is a Sony proprietary format that they use in their video cameras so obviously they would support it with their software. I can't vouch for Sony Vegas Movie Studio (I confused Pro with Studio in my previous posts) but one would assume the two are built on the same basic code.
