RCA audio outs for connecting the tv to a surround sound system. Sports are much better in surround sound vs. the cheap tv speakers. The only way to get around this is with a cable box, satellite box, or external digital tuner--all these have audio outs.

There is a RCA HTIB that'll be $99 on Black friday if you take a look at the Sear BF ad.

Nothing so far in that size. Everything for Samsung so far is 40+ inches. From Sears:
        40 inch 1080p LCD for $600
        42 inch 720p Plasma for $550
        50 inch 720p Plasma for $700

I'm trying to decide between a 720p Panny plasma and 1080p Panny plasma.

720p for $550 (2 HDMI, but does have VGA)
1080p for $650 (3 HDMI, but no VGA)

Is that 46 inch Samsung that Sears is offering any good? I am in the market for a 46-52 LCD or Plasma that has the best bang for it's buck (roughly $1200 or less). Gaming, sports, and hd shows will be my main use for the tv...and possibly blu-ray (ps3?).

How bright is the room it would be going in?

Not very bright at all. When windows will be behind the tv in my direct view. But the sun doesn't come in all that well.

Asking b/c if it was a bright room, you'd want a brighter display--LCD. Either a LCD or plasma would work in your room. I happen to think plasmas look a lot better than LCDs even when comparing 720p to 1080p. And it would be no contest between a 1080p plasma and 1080p LCD. But it's not my money so you'd have to go with what looks best to you--comes down to personal preference. Deals for either format will be out there on BF.

When can we expect the black friday adds to start rolling in?

Still waiting on the big guns--Walmart, Target, Best Buy. Walmart has already drawn the line in the sand that they will have the lowest prices. So it might be a while before their ad gets "leaked".

I really want an HDTV for my room, so I might actually venture out this year if there are some good deals on a mid-sized HDTV. Can't believe Black Friday is only about two weeks away now...where the hell has 2009 gone?

You should have be good. Mostly people camp out for cheap stuff and not the HDTVs. Also, they'll be camped out at Walmart and Best Buy....Sears is usually a ghost town in my area on BF.

I'm pretty much limited to amazon, sears, and kmart. Amazon has no taxes and free shipping and my brother has an employee discount at sears and kmart.

Unless something crazy happens, I'm Panny plasma or bust.

Walmart had their pre black friday sale on saturday and it was a mad house, people were buying tvs, laptops and xbox 360s like they were crack.

I dont care for Walmart plasmas though, they always break down very quickly. I had a friend buy their 50 inch Sanyo plasma for $768 and the picture went out a week later. He didnt even hook his videogames or blu ray player to it yet, all was connected was the cable line.

Best Buy's black friday ad is up.

Quite a few blus for cheap and decent selection of HDTVs.
