You didn't find the short story to be deep?

It's not just about a kid going off to an island to dance around with monsters.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

+1 I LOVED this movie and anybody with half a brain can recognize that it's not just about a kid with a wild imagination. This was easily in my top 3 from last year and I can't wait to buy it on blu ray. Max's acting was perfect, the voice acting was perfect. I can understand how a person would be bored with it to a degree, but this movie is far from shallow or stupid.

I can definitely understand if someone found it boring. I can understand if most kids hated it.

The movie isn't very exciting. It's very slow. The theme is dark with saturated grays and blacks and this continuous feeling of dread. The brightest scenes (ie: the desert) are cavernous and desolate.

However, the film is not shallow. I'm having a tough time understanding how an adult could say it was, but that's why I'm asking.
