Best router bang for the buck?
I think it's time to upgrade. My Linksys has been relatively hassle free, but I don't think it's powerful enough. It's located in my basement and has to go up 2 floors to the master bedroom for a signal to reach our laptop and it's pretty faint. Interestingly, when I hooked up a 360 wirelessly (using the old Xbox1 adapter) that is only on the next floor, it appears to be full strength. I wasn't expecting that.

Avoid Belkin like the plague. I bought a Belkin thanks to being tight on money and while it works just fine for my online gaming as my PS3 is wired but when downloading on my laptop, which is wireless, I basically cant do much else as the connection isnt strong enough. If I had the money I would upgrade but Im stuck at the moment.Comment

Which does hold up for gaming?
So is there anything with a stronger signal than 2.462 for wireless?
addendum: does anyone know how the expanders work? Meaning, where do they get set up? At another point in your house?Last edited by daflyboys; 10-28-2009, 06:33 PM.Comment

I run Tomato firmware on mine. My current up-time is a little over 9 months.
Wouldn't recommend using it with stock firmware.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Get the Linksys Wireless G w/ Rangebooster. Trust me no matter how big you place is, the router will reach all workstations/consoles.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you.
