Re: Your five favorite voices in the history of music?

I'd be remiss to not post one of my all time favorite vocalists.
I've seen Turandot countless times.(unfortunately, only with Pavarotti in the OPERA only once....I've seen his performances with Philharmonics several times)
His January 1980 Philharmonic performance was my first exposure to opera pieces(this is not that performance)
This is not even close to being one of my favorite pieces...but I think it's one that a lot of guys will recognize.
Don't dismiss it as "high art" or "chi-chi".
        When you see it live...AWESOME.

Saw this LEGEND in Florida when I was in school there....I'm guessing 1983.....I love his version..
Don't forget the unbelievable scene in The Sandlot!
        https://<object width="425" height="...mbed></object>

        That's two for now....
I'm gonna chew on this a while.

You "no love" and "that is all guys" are funny. Almost as funny as guys who have to say "haters".

          So in honor of you...

No love for Ray Charles? That is all.

          (haters)

Actually..... I also gotta go with the Al Green (though more hits would have been good). Marvin Gaye was ridiculous smooth. And I always had a preference for Michael McDonald's style..... he just needed better writing for his solo "career". Steve Winwood in Spencer Davis Group & Traffic (plus his initial solo album) was top notch.

On a more serious note, I don't see many rock vocalists in this thread. How about these guys?

I was thinking more about this topic and a few other singers' voices came to mind:

I saw Raheem open up a few years ago for New Edition and Brian McKnight and he was great. He was selling some mix albums after the show and I bought all 3 and he ended up signing all 3 along with giving me a phone number.

Re: Your five favorite voices in the history of music?

                                In no order:

                                Steve Perry
                                George Strait
                                Garth Brooks
                                Eminem
                                Sara Evans

Also want to give an honorable mention ton Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, and Steven Tyler.
I have very different taste in music than most.
