 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

I'm not sure. I think they are close. The S8+ has that 18.5x9 aspect ratio so its taller. I love my iPhone but it is pretty big, heavy, and clunky for me. So that's why I went with the regular S8. I guess I'll find out Monday if it works for me.

I've had the biggest version of every phone that offered a bigger version for years. I'm thinking maybe going a little smaller might be a good type of different.Comment

No, they are slightly different sizes and alot of reviewers mention the S8+ can be tough to handle if you have small hands. One's a 5.8" screen and the other is 6.2". The phone sizes differ by about 1/3 of an inch height wise and about an 1/8 of an inch width wise.

 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

Lady at work has the S8 and it looks good but was rather thin as far as width, looked good though. I'm going to wait for the Note 8So after much debate I decided on the S8. Switched our plan around a bit and won't be paying any extra.

I went with the regular size one. I already feel like my iPhone 7 plus is huge so having a 6.2 inch screen might be a little much. But I am concerned I made the wrong decision on that. I guess if it's too small I can just return it and get the plus.

What really sucks is I ordered it yesterday around 5pm and got free overnight shipping, but it was after the cutoff for the day so it didn't ship until today and UPS doesn't do Saturday delivery so now I won't get it till Monday. Yeah, I have small hands. And my iPhone is sometimes tough to handle. And the size and weight make it slam around in my pocket when I wear athletic shorts and pants. Sometimes it slams into my knee and is very annoying. lolNo, they are slightly different sizes and alot of reviewers mention the S8+ can be tough to handle if you have small hands. I switched from s7 edge to s8+ and love it, I gots big hands though. I love how well and fast the eyeball scanner works.

Only gripes about the newer galaxies is they are slippery without case. On leather furniture with vibrate on it can slide off. I don't like covers.Comment

 Galaxy S5 on Marshmallow.

I had issues with my SD card, and the default save location for pictures changed from the SD card to the internal device. Any idea how I change it back?Comment

 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

Got the S8 today. Way too small! I think its the width that kills it for me. Took it to the Sprint store and exchanged it for the S8+. Much better now.

 It's an absolutely stunning phone.

I also wanted to add that I've only been a Sprint customer for about 5 months, switched from Verizon because had some serious issues with them and they were complete dicks, and no it had nothing to do with paying my bill, and Sprint had a ridiculously good deal to switch. Sent in our phones, they gave us over $800 in pre-paid cards, and like 3 months of bill credit.

Basically what I'm getting at is their customer service has been top notch for me. Had a few minor issues and they fixed them fast and right. And the guy at the store today was great helping me exchange the phone.

Only downside is their network isn't nearly as good as Verizon's where I live, but it's acceptable.

And just for sort of a quick impression of the phone, as I said my other phone is an iPhone 7 plus and I love it. But man, this phone is amazing. Touchwiz is finally great. Couldn't stand it before. Everything about the UI is fantastic. And the screen is just do damn good. I really like the curved glass. I know a lot of people don't, but it is so cool to me. The always on display is really cool. And useful. I'm also looking forward to trying Bixby once it's fully operational. I used Siri quite a bit. I think I may not go back to my iPhone and just use it as the extra line.Last edited by PVarck31; 04-24-2017, 11:08 PM.Comment

Thanks for the review PVack. Very tempted to get it, its such a beautiful phone but my buddy just dropped his phone and it already got a crack in the corner. Seems like that can happen easily now that the screen is almost almost on all sides and i drop my a good couple times a week.Comment

It definitely needs to be in a case. I have one coming tomorrow from amazon and I'm freaked out I'm gonna drop it. Its very slippery. I think with a good case it should be fine. Thanks for the review PVack. Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

After about a week with the S8+ I have not even once regretted my decision. I thought I may go back to my iPhone or wish I got the G6 because in the past I have not really been a huge Samsung fan. But I have to say it doesn't feel like a typical Samsung phone. I couldn't stand Touchwiz, but it's gotten to a point where it no longer feels like Touchwiz. Feels like a new ecosystem to me. I hated the way notifications worked on the older Samsung phones. Now with the always on display you can see exactly what each one is. I like how they pop up if you are using the device and then disappear. So then you can just slide down from the top to get them.

I don't have any security settings set up because I don't really need them, so I like how you can just press the bottom of the screen to unlock it.

One of the biggest reasons why I like the iPhone so much is its beautiful simplicity. But I have to say the S8 with it's new Touchwiz running over Android 7 is very simplistic and when you add in the absolutely stunningly beautiful display, It's a must have phone in my opinion.Comment

 Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

I think so. Unless you like smaller phones and are used to smaller phones. I've had 5.5 inch phones for a while and the regular S8, while 5.7 of actual screen is smaller. Or at least feels a lot smaller. The + feels about the same size as the iphone 7 plus. And having that extra screen real estate is great if you watch a lot of Youtube or Netflix on your phone.

I made the mistake of getting the smaller one first and regretted it. I'd say get the + and if it's too big you can always return it.Comment

Not including games, messaging apps or video/music players, what are peoples most used apps?

I started cleaning out abunch of useless apps I had on my device today and realized just how few I actually use, especially compared to most people. So clearly there must be some useful non gaming/messaging apps out there everyones using that I'm not.Comment
