    Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

When you guys get a software update and need to reformat to start fresh because that is what is "suggested" to ensure that the update "installs cleanly" what's the best way to back up literally everything? Is there a way to back up and restore my phone exactly the way it was, with settings and app settings, wallpapers and alarms and bookmarks and you name it?

When I transferred from my Note 5 to Note 9, the backups didn't really apply properly and I had to spend hours re-tweaking settings, placing shortcuts in the right places, etc.

Not happy with my Note 9 after the Pie update.

I've never had that happen with an update.

You will need to use an app and be rooted to get everything. Google does do a good job with their backup and it can move data now. Some apps work but some don't. Samsung can also backup and restore things.

Settings may not be able to be restored though if the upgrade changes things.

Yeah, see, I'm just gonna have to live with it I think. Don't want to tinker to make everything the way I want it again.

What phone are you coming from? I curre tly ha E a 128 GB OG Pixel XL, and am debating the 'upgrade'. I think I'm going to stick with this as it's only 1.5 yrs old (got it from Google as a 6p replacement), but I'm tempted due to the size.

From an iPhone XS sort of. Didn't get rid of it just using something different. Google offered 259 for my iPhone SE (16GB) so that was a no brainer to jump on the 3a.

I’m mildly concerned about the 670 processor in comparison to the 845 but I’m sure it won’t make much difference really.

I’ll report back after it arrives.

LMAO, I was right there with ya, I just received my White 3a today, didn't want the XL, I own the iPhone XR in red and that's my every day phone and still love it.

Always loved Pixel too, I have google play store credit also, but I traded in my IPHONE SE 32gb and they are giving me $250 towards my purchase. I mean Im only going to paying like $178 when its all said and done for the 3a. I'm liking the phone so far, cant beat that price for the best camera on any phone and being unlocked.

I'm not going to say anything definitive like, "I'm never buying another $1000 phone again." But if Google and others keep doing things like the 3a I might be able to.

I got ya, but for me , I'm not buying another $1000 phone, phone are just way to expensive, and Google may very well be on to something, phone should be priced at $1000 IMO anyway. Hoping google changes this. I'm enjoying the 3a right now, but sound I have got the XL?

I've thought about the XL since getting the 3a. But, I've been on a smaller phone kick which is why when I went back to iPhone I got the XS instead of the XS Max.

One Plus 7 media event was today.

Except for the selfie cam I like everything about it.

Its going to be my next phone.

I'd still be using a 6T if it was FULLY compatible w/ Verizon. I needed WiFi calling. I'm wondering if compatibility with the 7 Pro will be more of the same.

Not sure but theyre already selling it in a few states right now.

Im on the 6T with Tmobile so im all good. Wifi calling is more important to me than wireless charging to be honest, especially with their quick charge feature

Not sure I ever came here to complain about how your recent apps work on Pie or whatever the latest version is.

Really annoying have to scroll so much no that they want to show a full screen preview. Was much more of a ran of them being stacked on top of each other so you could see all the apps you had open all at once.
