Got Android 10 on my Pixel 2 XL. Like dark mode, the new ability to easily set certain notifications as silent, and am liking gestures more and more as my body adapts to using them.

My wife is looking to upgrade from the original Pixel. She was looking at the S10. We already have my bloated S9 phone payment so I told her to check out the Pixel 3a or the Galaxy S10e. She wants to keep a headphone jack. She really still likes the Pixel, but the battery is shot. Needs replaced, but really if we can come across a decent trade in offer we are thinking just get a new phone. We are on Verizon.

Any suggestions between the 3a and S10e?

Anyone else think that ergonomics and designs of these phones are getting worse? like why does the note have all three buttons on the same side or hole punch design eating up real estate with the weird 18:9 19:9 screen resolutions.

Random thing, but I think clothes need adjusting instead. Pants pockets havent changed. Definitely should be designed more for 5+ inch phones, most likely in a case. Some pants I have, they're not tight, but pockets definitely makes putting a phone in it a challenge.

Mario Kart on mobile comes out in a few hours!

I hope we can play vs AI as well. I hate playing against other people who are usually ones that play way more often than me and have clear advantage.

Although what I do remember about Mario games are the insane riggege and "rubber banding" in them.

Think you got a 20 second lead on your opponents? Wrong. Here comes some karts speeding up, 2 blue shells, and a green shell with 99.9% accuracy coming straight for you.

Smash Bros I later found out did this too. Compete in free for all. 4 people fighting, how cool....except somehow the 3 AI all team up on you! They'd literally sacrifice their own lives going after the human player and completely ignore attacking each other.

It's pretty good. I think it will get boring after a little while, but a good time waster. You don't have issues with people having advantages as they match you up well. Then within each track, certain characters, karts, etc have advantages.

I've played a few levels so far and it's nice. A smaller version of the video game tracks. At least I've been able to play free. Super mario run you can only do so much before it's impossible to move up because you have to pay to unlock the rest of the game.

Feels weird playing mario kart with no controller though. Much harder turning and firing shells at people when you need your hand on the screen at all times.

I was worried about the pay wall, right now I don't see anything stopping you from advancing. You just need to pay to get some characters, karts, etc. Otherwise you should be able to play at a slower pace.

That's more what I was expecting. I don't care if it takes time. I rarely play mobile games anymore. I hated spending so much time on them or having to check in every so often for specific things. I like games where I just play at my own pace, not caring if I play once a week or whatever. Won't put me at a disadvantage or anything.

Speaking of the game, should I spend my rubies now? Or would it be worth saving up for a future pipe thing.

I waited until I got enough to do the 10 shots. I think it's the only way to get the special stuff for the NY tracks. I didn't get any of them, but I got a ton of characters and karts. Only took about 2 hours and had the time to kill. Once you get to the 150cc races it becomes challenging and not easy to win every time or even get 5 stars.

I find 150cc fairly easy. Though I've come in 1st on some and still didnt get all the stars. The Yoshi track specifically.

Yeah 1st isn't the point though, you need to get 5 stars. The Yoshi one you need to fall back to get points, but still get 1st to get 5 stars. Around level 10 other players make it interesting sometimes. The smaller SNES tracks are free for alls as there isn't much space and a lot of power ups. Still trying to find out how to use all the short cuts.
