    Yep

Most tablets out there are wifi only and then there are the 3g/wifi models that you pay a fee on if you want 3g.

Either way if youre in places where you can use wifi or have devices that offer a hotspot then you're good to do wherever, but if you already have wifi internet at home you wont need your phone to give you the service of course.

Well crap I didn't read the fine print.

You get $100 off with the purchase of an S4, but you have to get a data or mobile share plan for the tablet -_-

All depends man.. what do you want?

Do you really want a tab and at what price. If you are getting an S4 then how much would adding this plan be on your bill as opposed to buying a standalone tablet?

I have no use to have a tablet on my plan. Pretty much just for browsing the Internet and doing minuscule functions while sitting on the couch. Or watching a movie in the car. $300 before tax is my tops.

You can find a standalone tab just fine with that

Yeah you're good and it doesn't have to be a crappy tab either lol

They can do it all. I'm currently at the dentist for my daughter. I'm in the parking lot on my tab browsing forums on tapatalk and about to watch Netflix all using my jobs blackberry hotspot

I think I may be coming back to Android pretty soon. Getting a little bored with iOS. I'll keep my iPad for FaceTime purposes though.

Is the S4 pretty much the gold standard?

Either S4 or HTC One. Both excellent phones. I love my S4.

Love my S4, thing has been performing flawless for me since my purchase.

This past weekend I was down in San Diego visiting family and I swung by Kobey's swap meet.

Picked up an Otterbox Commuter for only $12! (Defender is nice but too bulky for me)

Anyone ever mess with the app called Tasker?

There are some very useful things you can do with it.

                        Re: Official Android Discussion Thread

I'm going to Europe for 2 1/2 weeks. I'll put my phone in Airplane mode and then turn on Wifi (while still in airplane mode) so I can use any hotspots....

Anything else I'd need to do to make sure it's not roaming or anything?

I have Google Translate with the languages downloaded for offline use.

Anyone know if it'd be possible to DL the cities in Europe I'd be in for offline use on Google Maps? Not sure if it's possible or too much data....

You'd have to just turn off the Mobile Network...I don't think you can turn on Wi-Fi while having it in Airplane mode.

Yeah, you can turn on WiFi after Airplane mode is enabled. That should suffice as it'll kill your mobile radios, no worry of crazy data charges / issues. And, yes, Tasker is awesome! Well worth the money and time it takes to familiarize. The wiki / guide should help you get started.

Anyone get the new Maps yet?

You don't want to us google maps as it won't give you directions unless something has changed there. I'm testing out navfree, has a europe and usa version, and that will work with your network off. It also has some searching without network, but haven't tried it yet. Going to Europe also and most likely won't be getting a phone. Will be deciding on a voip app for free WIFI calling next.
