Decided to drop $4 on the fully featured Nova Launcher and wow, what a great purchase. The gestures alone are some of the greatest "quick actions" I've had on a phone. I'm not even sure how I did without them previously. Lol.

What I have customized thus far:

Swipe up one finger - camera
Swipe up two fingers - photo gallery
Swipe down one finger - flashlight
Swipe down two fingers - Smart Remote
Rotate two fingers counter clockwise - Google Play Music
Rotate two fingers clockwise - ESPN Radio
Pinch in - Flipboard
Pinch out - Google Play Books
Click home button (on home screen) - S Note

Are you launching the app or are you able to toggle the flashlight on and off?

Android 5.0 Lollipop is rolling out to Nexus users now. I just got prompted to update my Nexus 5(T-Mobile). Overall everything just seems cleaner and more responsive than 4.4. I'm curious to find out how well it improves my battery life.

Not on a Galaxy Note 4. If so, please show me how.

This is the type of nonsense I dislike with Android and manufacturers involving themselves with the design of a phone. HTC is the only one who gets it right. I miss the knock to wake feature.

Just read you can have it on the lock screen if you have an s-view case. Guess I'll have to deal with an ugly widget for now.

Finally got my HTC M8 (last gold one at Best buy) man I love the sense ui HTC uses so far, plus the sound is great on this yhing when im listening to music on my travels.

So damn snappy too coming from an old Galaxy Nexus. Pretty awesome phone and it didnt really break my wallet which is a plus

You have to use Nova Launcher for that to work, which is a 3rd party Launcher. You have to assign a gesture to the app, very easy to do.

He wants to be able to turn the flashlight on by doing the gesture. What you are describing would open the flashlight app, but then you'd have to toggle the light on once it opens. I don't think turning it on directly with a gesture is possible.

Going to commit the cardinal sin and ask questions without reading through the entire thread (I've been avoiding this thread on purpose until I could upgrade).

I've got an S4 and other than issues with age, I've been happy with it. I don't know if I want to go as big as a Note 4... I saw some links for reviews so I'll check those out instead of bugging you with more questions about that.

My questions are more about the S5... at this stage is it worth upgrading to that? Significant differences between the S4 and S5?

And does anyone know anything about the S6? I heard a rumor that it will be out soon but haven't looked/seen/heard anything about it other than word of mouth.

Haven't heard about the S6 but yes the S5 is a pretty nice phone so if you want to upgrade, do it.

The Note 4 as well.. you should go in a store and look at it but I warn you, if you get one of these you'll likely never want to downgrade ever again.

It's true, I can't go smaller anymore. I need the big screen, for reading, videos, gaming. I honestly don't think the note is big, it's just normal.

Yeah no way to turn on the flashlight natively. It's ridiculous. I just installed power tools. Now I have yet another app sitting in memory for one thing.

I really don't like the S5. The Note is a much nicer phone. Build quality is much better. Better hardware. Go Note or go with the M8.
