Yep, after they found out he wasn't a thug even his fanbase turn on him. You can call him all you want, but he was popular for what ever reason. I think he even had to give 1 million dollar to Surge Knight if I am not mistaking.

I'll give Vanilla Ice this...he saved the money he made, so I do respect that. However, Vanilla Ice was successful because he copied MC Hammer's style and ran with it. It's similar to New Edition being a success, and New Kids On the Block coming along with a similar style and selling even more.

You're all wrong. There will never be a song worse than My Humps. It's impossible.

I can agree with this big time! But the fact is he made a lot of money at being bad then! I would take that in not making money and being great!

Dude... Vanilla Ice used to say "word to your mother". That should have been a dead give away right there that he was fake. Poor guy couldnt even get the slang right.

the correct phrase was "word to mother" if you didnt know.

And about that Miley Cyrus song. Went out the other night and EVERYONE at the club was dancing to that song. I was laughing super hard. haha. College night ladies get in free FTW.

Country's popularity spans all age groups. Rap is popular to the 30 and under crowd. Remember, the crowd that was teens when rap started are now in there mid 40's. How many of them are still consuming rap music? Little to none, they have moved on to other genres. Rap and bubblegum pop are nitch genres because the fanbase moves on the other genres as they get older. Country, R&B, soft & hard Rock fanbases tend to stay with the artist there entire career. There for making them the most popular.
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....

Because rap has only been around for about 30 years.

Once this generation hits their older ages, you'll see the appeal of rap span all age groups.

That's a fair argument...though the poster above me has a great point. Once this generation hits their 40s and whatever I would think rap would still be very popular.

Unlikely because of content. Rap is a young mans game. The content of 98% rap is guns, drugs violence, and misogynistic filth which is why it appeals to a younger audience and lacks mass appeal across all age groups. Rap has been around 30 years but the lifespan of rapper has not changed. Most hang it up by mid 30's. Simply because these talk about the streets. At some point you become to old to be in the streets.

Not true. Most of the old vets are still rapping and coming out with new albums. It's just that the young kids aren't gravitating towards it. It's like Jay-Z said, most rappers aren't maturing with their original audience. Too many are trying to appeal to a teen crowd, yet are close to or over 30 years of age.

False, there is no way an entire generation can not grow up and realize how terrible rap music. The one's who listen to rap in their older years will probably be living in their parents basement or are whitetrash. Once you grow up, you learn to like music with lyrics that aren't from the toilet.
