I've been using both TS and M2TS, and both lock Vegas on me occasionally.

I just ordered one of these. I've looked about 1,000 reviews and there's good & bad.

However, a constant I read was to get the hardware from the Hauppauge website. I took that advice and it was about $10 more, which is no problem for me. They say 3rd part sellers will sell the older models.

      $199 + S&H

It's quite a chunk of change, but video gaming is my hobby.

I think you'll enjoy it. I've got a few hours of NCAA'11 with mine and have had no issues. Just make sure you're using at least a dual core to capture.

Whoever said you cant use the Hauppauge with Apple is wrong, because it is most certainly possible. All you need is a 3rd party application

oh well you guys saw my dynasty websites before and they were decent and I was never taught DreamWeaver. I will just have to trial and error my way through it!

Really, it's not that complicated. Import your media, drag it to the timeline on the bottom, then play through it, splitting where needed.

Keep in mind the keyboard shortcuts... if you are familiar with proper typing, just set your hands on the home keys.

S = Split video... split it just before the clip you want, then split it at the end of that clip and then delete the excess.

J = Rewind... hit it multiple times to increase the speed
              K = Pause
L = Forward... hit it once for Play, multiple times for fast forward.

Also if you hold K and then hit J or L, it will play at half speed and increment at halves (so .5, 1.0, 1.5, etc.) That way if you want better accuracy for frame cutting, it's there.

M = Marker... think of it as a bookmark

So when I'm editing a highlight video for NCAA Football, I fast forward at 4x speed until I come to the start of a play. I continue at 4x speed but hit the M key to add a marker to signify the start of a play. If I want to add that play, I go back to the marker and play until I get to the point that I want to split it. I split it, play at normal speed, then split again at the end. I then continue this process through the end.

Once I've gone through all of the footage, I go back through deleting the portions that I don't want... generally they are noticeably wider on the timeline so they're easy to spot (plus it's every other segment).

Hope that helps but if you have any questions feel free to ask... I'll answer what I can.

Re: I really don't feel like I got my money's worth with the Hauppauge HD PVR

Thanks that's a huge help! I figured out the "S" trick today and that is basically how I went through the entire clip and edited. Next time around I'll go ahead and use the others as well.

I'll post the highlights after it uploads on YouTube. Unfortunately it's taking 1.5 hrs for 223MB movie, which is about 9 minutes IIRC.

I think it turned out pretty good and it was definitely rewarding to get everything finished!

                Let's see...here's the time breakdown:

                Play game: 1 hour
                Edit film: 45 minutes
                Render clip: 45 minutes
                Upload to YouTube: 1.5 hours

Grand total of 4 hours!!! Haha oh well I can do chores while this stuff goes on.

Why dont you just play the game then when you have a nice play record it in replay mode?

I just think it looks better in real time if you ask me. I could possibly do that, and trust me I'm sure it will come into my mind.

It wouldn't really cut that much time off the process. 10-15 minutes most.

                      Son of a B!!!!

At the 30 minute mark I left a small portion of clip...which made the vid 30 mins long, which youtube rejected it lol

                      Oh boy...

My main reason is that then you don't have the scorebar at the bottom so no one knows the score or time remaining. As well, you don't get commentary (which I use in my videos) and I don't like the built in replay cameras. Plus this year, at least on PS3, on big plays, the beginning can easily get cut-off.

Add in like NDAlum said, it really doesn't cut off much if any time of your entire process.

Here's my first attempt and I think it turned out pretty well. Also you'll immediately see why you don't want just highlights. When you have the sounds of the game it's 100x better!

Well the Hauppauge site is $200. I'd but it from them rather than paying $10 less for an Amazon older model.

That's just me though. Plus if you have issues you get to deal with Hauppauge. Do some research and you'll have your answer.
