Re: Alec Baldwin to quit acting in 2012
Top 10 scenes in a movie was his ABC in Glengarry. 30 Rock is rock solid also. Alec's the man.Comment

Re: Alec Baldwin to quit acting in 2012
Hopefully he rethinks this as I think he's a great guy that can do character acting in major movies or television. That's what Hollywood really lacks these days, the older actors/actresses that can give a movie a little pop without having to totally take over the whole show.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

If movies are the reason he's not happy with his career, then he should just stick to precious 30 Rock and call it a day.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Alec Baldwin to quit acting in 2012
A conflicted man, this one.
He originlly turned down the role in 30 Rock because he considered acting in television to be a failure in his life (he really considers movie acting to be the elite of prformance).
It took Tina Fey and NBC execs lots of patience to convince him otherwise. He finally agreed to a half season order. Once they were shot, they convinced him of more. Even after he was nominated for his performance, he shrugged it off believing that he had ruined his career by doing television.
Really, when you watch Baldwin in 30 Rock and wonder why he looks so pissed and annoyed, remember that he really is."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I don't think hes a complete failure... he's very well known, has some pretty funny roles, and basically carries 30 Rock.
Definitely appears to be a strange dude in real life though, just the way he talks about acting and what not.
Oh well, lol.Comment

Re: Alec Baldwin to quit acting in 2012
He is a conflicted man. He has a major motion picture coming out Christmas day costarring Meryl Streep and Steve Martin, so who knows if this isn't some type of hype for the picture? Incidentally the film, It's Complicated, is pending appeal of an R rating.
His acceptance speech at the last Emmys, just over two months ago doesn't indicate any "looking down" at the TV industry. Come on he hosted Saturday Night Live a million times.
