The reason why I asked is because, I read in the last 2 weeks that 240hz isn't really 240hz, like someone said it's more of a marketing deal, because there is no broadcast nor device that runs or views in 240 at all. That's why I believe that set was being sold at that price.

Re: Getting this new HDTV tomorrow
To be honest, I don't even see a difference between 60hz and 120hz. I think some of it is mental and people perceive what they want to see.
According to a few studies I've read, there is a difference between 120hz and 240hz, but most people can't even see them. The testers have used specialized test patterns to see the difference. In everyday viewing, they said they could not tell the difference.
I'm surprised to see more people on here aren't picking up LED's. Is there something I'm missing about those sets? I was planning on getting a 60"-65" LED as my main TV near the end of next year. I'll move the DLP elsewhere until we finish the basement for the game room.Comment

Re: Getting this new HDTV tomorrow
I'm not sure if you heard, but LED's over over priced and cost way to much...That's most likley one of the reason, the other could be that IMO Led are not above and beyond stand LCD at this point. My freind just bought a new Samsung LED-LCD and I didn't come away impressed at all, and he spent almost $3000 for it.
I didn't realize they were simply LCD's renamed (basically). I'll have to see what I'm going to do at that time. A year is a long time away. My budget will likely be in the 3-4K range so I figure I should be able to get something pretty nice in the 60-65" range.Comment

Re: Getting this new HDTV tomorrow
I've only seen a few and read very little about them. I thought they looked great when I saw a few Samsungs at a local Home Theater Store (and I guess I find the thin aspect of them very cool). I figured they were priced high now because they're fairly new. By the time I purchased, they'd drop. I'll have to read more... I'm a huge Samsung fan so that's part of the reason I was drawn to them. I like Samsung over Sony and many other brands.

Re: Getting this new HDTV tomorrow
Well initial impressions are extremely good. I was seriously blown away when my wife booted up MW2. Just looked incredible compared to my other set. I'll try and post some pics. Very, VERY pleased and completely recommend this tv.Comment

LCD LED Tv's don't come any bigger than 55 inch as of now. There are 2 common types of LED TV's- Edge-Lit & Back-Lit. The biggest draw for LED LCD TV is how energy efficient they are. These TV's don't even get HOT. Another draw is this new feature introduced called "Local Dimming" . This feature allows the TV to basically turn-off the LED in areas where they are not needed which in return gives you a real dark black in those areas. This feature though is only found on LED LCD TV that offer Back-Light Technology. The also can get 40% brighter brighter than your normal CCFL LCD TV, which is also a plus.
As always if your in the market, keep doing your research. I waited almost 2 years before I made my decision. Here's 2 links with more info:
Here are the best TVs I’ve reviewed from top brands like LG, Samsung and TCL, and over a range of budgets.
Couple of screen shots from my TOSHIBA... Which right now a 55' version can found on the net for anywhere between $2,000-2,500
