How do I convert this audio file

I just received a two CD set from another web site (716th MP BN) that has the radio dispatch chatter from Tet '68 (the night the VC/NVA attacked Saigon). I want to add some of this to my web site, but the audio file says CDA?

I usually use Audacity, but it will not recognize the file. How can I change this to an MP3, or something that Audacity recognizes so that I can clip sound bytes from the CD and add it to the different pages on my site.....thanks.

You can use Windows Media Player to rip them to wav,mp3 or wma and then edit in Audacity.

Okay, I ripped it. How do I get it off my Windows Media Player onto my desktop? Can that be done?

        thanks.

Yes, it should have ripped it to a folder or file location. Right click on the new playlist (the ripped version) and select "choose file location" or "find file location" or something like that.

          hope that helps

Okay, got it, thanks for that. Dragged the sound file the desktop. File shows it's an MP3, right click on it and it says MP3 Format Sound (mp3). Opened AUDACITY and it will not allow me to open saying it is "uncompressed". (It's a big file 23.1 MB, almost three hours long). I was prompted to IMPORT AS RAW DATA and did that, but when I press play I just get a "click" sound and that's it.

it may be locked. I run into this sometimes with Audacity. Some of my songs will load and then won't play in audacity because of some sort of code within the file. Your file is huge, 3 hrs long, but here's what you can do:

              Go to: http://www.zamzar.com/

and convert your file to another type of music file or maybe even .mp3 again. They will email you the converted file. It only takes a minute or two when I convert one song, but your file might take an hour or so, who knows. But after it's converted, it will work in audacity.

Because it's already and MP3, my choices are WAV/WMA/MPA/MP4. Which do you recommend?

I went with WAV as Audacity will handle that file. It does appear to take some time so I'll let you know. Thanks for helping me, appreciated.

No problem. Yea, .wav will work. I love audacity! I'm still learning new things every time I use it. You can adjust the volume on your tracks and zoom in and out of the progress bar to precisely pinpoint where you want your clip to start and stop. I love it.
