That was actually a pretty inspired episode, quite good all in all.

I've actually laughed at the Simpsons previews I've seen while watching New Girl on demand. I might have to set the DVR for it.

I don't understand how The Simpsons could go after Season 24... it ended after Season 10. Some other show, a very similar one, has been on television since masquerading under the same name but it's not The Simpsons. Should this other show that will be in its 14th season go? I don't know and don't care since it's not even close to the best animated series of the last decade.

Or to say it another way - we're finally going to have our moment of grieving for a childhood favorite show that we never stopped loving. We'll remember the time Bart got an elephant, the Krusty Komeback Klassic, Who Shot Mr. Burns, Ralph's wookie getting bent, the burlesque parlor, the monorail, and all those great episodes... and no one is going to talk about the time Lisa saved the stupid Yum Yum fish or Homer befriended the manatees.

It's a matter of semantics but most Simpsons enthusiasts say the show started to decline really badly in S13 and "died" after season 15. It was when guys like Ian Maxtone-Graham had stronger say in the way the show was written and amazingly it was under the tenure of Al Jean as head writer. Jean was one of the earliest writers on the show and had an earlier (and better) tenure as head writer back in the day though he was teamed up with Mike Reiss at the time. Jean's 2nd tenure as head writer saw the exploitation and dumbing down of Homer to the point that you could call it "The Crazy Homer" show. Luckily things have gotten a bit better in the last 2-3 seasons but the damage done may have been too much.

I watched a newer episode and Moe's voice is really softened. Is it a different actor doing it?

Same actor, a lot of characters (especially the smaller bit players) voices have changed a bit mainly due to the VAs aging. I've heard that Moe's voice is pretty hard on Hank Azaria's vocal chords so it's not too surprising that it sounds different these days.

Thats what I figured. Kinda like Mike Judge and the Beavis voice for the new B&B.

I know this thread is older, but I still watch every episode, and I still laugh my a$$ off!

Been watching since their debut way back in 1989.

Great thing about animated series is that nobody grows up, and so far, I haven't seen them jump the shark......

So no, to me, it's not time to end the series, yet.

Was anybody else disappointed with the Tree House of Horror? They've had some classics but this past one parodied spiderman? Lame. I wish they went back to their darker tone in the first 1-8 seasons.

Whenever the time comes for a final season, it'll easily be one of the most-watched things ever.

I know personally I really only watch the new stuff on occasion, and even then that's rare, but when the final season does happen I'd watch every episode.
