No love for Them Crooked Vultures? Surprises me a bit, I thought you were a Josh Homme fan. Didn't care for it or just haven't gotten around to it yet?
Them Crooked Vultures was a solid cd, but to me it sounded too much like Queens Of The Stone Age under a different name, rather than a side project/super group. Both Grohl and Jones are exceptional musicians and I wish there would have been more of their influence in it all. It seems basically like Homme ran the show. Unlike Eagles Of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures don't sound like Homme is stepping outside his cozy QOTSA box.

        Slayer - World Painted Blood

These guys still shred as hard as they did twenty years ago.

Man, that riff at 0:59 is classic Slayer all the way.

There are some Zep influences in some of those songs as well. I thought for sure one song started out in a continuous Zep riff. Grohl and Homme are big time Zep fans. Also, I liked Grohl's drumming on this disc. Homme offered Grohl to be lead singer and he refused and said, I'm the drummer.

I've heard good things about the new Katatonia but haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Even Mikael Akerfeldt was pimping it a couple of months ago.

Ohhhhh wowwww that Scar Symmetry is ridiculous. LOVE that album. I won't do any of my favorite bands the disservice of comparing their releases, but I'm SHOCKED at how much I love Dark matter Dimensions, and this is coming from a guy that listened to Holographic Universe on loop.

In DMD, they almost did every single thing I ever wanted to do in a metal album. Now I gotta think of new **** to do.

I enjoyed Wale's Attention Deficit, but a friend told me that he was as good as Lupe. I strongly disagree.

Yeah Wale isn't on Lupe's level or at least not yet but AD was a solid, solid album.
