Re: Anyone else have an addiction to...

For the first time in the last 10-12 years, I really don't feel the need to even carry a cell phone on me. I work with my girlfriend and most of my friends and family live 6-7 hours away so, there's really have no need to keep it on me.

Any call/text I get can wait. If they want to talk, I'll talk to them when I get home from work. During the weekends if my g/f or I go out then I may get some use out of it.

Hell, I can remember times in my early 20's when my cell bill was $300+ for 3 or 4 months in a row. I guess growing up does have it's advantages.

[QUOTE=superjames1992;2040576293]I don't understand the point of texting. It's a lot easier to pick up the phone and talk to someone.QUOTE]

I used to think the same thing. Then I started texting and it is so much easier. I think for guys, who generally don't like to talk on the phone anyway, this is a short and sweet way of communicating. I can get my point across without having to leave a message or carry on a conversation when I'm busy. I can communicate while I'm in the courtroom and unable to take a phone call. I don't carry on interpersonal relationships by texting, but it is a very efficient way to get things done while you are busy doing something else.

To answer the OP's question, I'm not addicted to texting, I send/recieve somewhere around 300-500 a month. Also, I am long since removed from high school *34*.

Plus, texting is expensive unless you really use it a ton, which I don't.
Not really. Say you have 5 friends you want to come over. A lot easier to just type up, "be here at 6:00" and send it to them instead of calling every single person. 20 seconds compared to 10 minutes of calling and interrupting whatever they are doing.

I guess I just don't understand what there is to not understand about texting.

That might be the dumbest thing I have ever read.

Probably 6,000 of mine were back and forth with the same girl. But I guess since she had multiple 7 hour car rides that means I am afraid to talk to girls? Then again I am not over 25

Another good point. Texting has made 3 hour long car rides with my parents bearable. Really can't blab on the phone for 3 hours.

I usually receive and respond to anywhere between 20-100 texts every day. It's ridiculous.

Back when I was friends with what's her name I used to have anywhere from 10,000-12,000 sent/received a month, now I'm back down to around 2,000.

I used to say the same thing until I started texting. I wouldn't say I am addicted at all, but it is much easier to send a text if you want to tell somebody one specific thing. It is much better than having a 20 minute phone call since I hate talking on the phone. I do it enough at work, so anything that makes me talk on the phone less is a good thing.

Texting is a lot easier than talking on the phone for me. I spend all day and sometimes night at school working with classified material so I can't bring my phone in, so when I get home it's either have a conversation with one person before bed or get in a text conversation with 2 or 3 of my friends. Just more convient for me.

This is a good thing. Most people have enough trouble driving without distractions.

Yeah, who cares about safety? Heck, maybe we should get rid of drunk driving laws, as well!

Texting while driving means you take your eyes off the road. Yeah, that's real safe.
