    Meh....

I'm sure he'll do a good job but I grow tired of seeing him in marquee roles like this.

i have mixed feelings on this. but apparently he and Ritchie are tight, so that's the connection.

Brad Pitt would be perfect in this type of roll/movie.

You sort of got that backwards. The Holmes method of deduction through small details came WAY before TV even.

But a great film with me being stoked for a sequel/franchise.

Great movie. It's a shame it came out around the same time as Avatar, or else everyone would be talking about it. Loved every minute of it (and so did my "date", which surprised me. thumbs up )

Will Rachel McAdams be returning too if there is a sequel? She was also very good... and easy on the eyes.

Not like I have any great insight into the future female lead roles but I'm hoping for a more Bond like approach and a different gal for different films.

i respectfully disagree...keep her in Adler's role - she's perfect for it. and please remember that Holmes is NOT a james bond character - his "romantic" relationships really aren't there at all in the books. if they change it to what you've suggested they've blown it up and made a huge mistake.

Agree... if they are to remain true to the originals then Mary Watson and Irene Adler are really the only two prominent (and somewhat recurring) women in the series.

if you guys are into reading books, there are two authors to consider that have a series of books:

                        Laurie R. King
Laurie R. King is the author of the Mary Russell & Sherlock Holmes series, as well as other crime and mystery novels.

i have both of these series in my library and highly recommend them...

That's cool but I wasn't saying make Sherlock Holmes treat women like Bond. I was working on the premise, as established in the film, that Holmes is not compatable from a social/romantic standpoint.

If you have the Adler role in every film then you work agianst the grain of what they established about their connection in the first place. It would likely end up like Renne Russo's role did in the Lethal Weapon franchise. The very fact that it existed narrowed the Riggs character into a shell of what it started as.
