Best news of the year so far!

I saw Stone Temple Pilots on their "reunion" tour back in 2008 and they were awesome. I'm looking even more forward to seeing Soundgarden after all these years. One of my favorite bands ever.

I don't think they ever toured. Hell, I don't know if they ever even played a show. Either way though, that TotD album was awesome. It's hard to believe that it came out almost 20 years ago.

They played one full set together.

Cornell's joined Pearl Jam on stage a couple times since then to perform. They did a rendition of Hunger Strike together in October.

Now this is some awesome news to start 2010 off to.

I hope a new album comes too eventually. That last Chris Cornell album was such a mess with the production from Timbaland (I think it was him). I would have loved to have heard those songs without his involvement as there was some good stuff underneath.

Hell freaking yes! My favorite band back in the mix! I just wonder how Chris would do with a whole Soundgarden set. A lot of the stuff is very vocally demanding.

I would say I'm suprised, but I'm not. The money is there to be made off a reunion, especially with all the love for the grunge era. I mean look at the response the STP and Alice In Chains(with a new singer even) reunions has gotten. As previously stated, Cornell has done almost nothing with his solo career and with Audioslave done, this was the next logical step. I'm skeptical though, as Cornells voice isn't near what it was when Soundgarden was together.

^The video in the 4th post here shows his voice is just fine. He did Hungerstrike damn well. Not to mention he has always done Soundgarden songs live.

Chris voice is great still. That is one talented man and his voice is up there with an opera singer.

yeah, Chris is really, really amazing. I have to check out more of his solo stuff. I've heard some stuff I liked a lot. Really great to hear that they are reuniting. I hope Kim Thayil has some nice songwriting in him.
