Yes!! Though Nathan may be too tall to play Spidey, I'm a big fan of his.

The interesting thing about Cameron's scripment of spideman was that he thought up of the organic web shooting in the 90's. Due to lawsuits and stuff after Marvel went bankrupt, he lost the rights to his screenplay. He went on to do Titanic, so didn't bother to fight for the writing credit in Spiderman.

As for the new spiderman film, apparently Sony had the script secretly written all along, and is ready to start production already.

The screenplay is apparently already complete. How's that? Well, apparently Sony saw this day coming for a long time and Vanderbilt's script was a contingency project that has already been written and is ready to go. Pretty interesting.

The project is now already in pre-production and its apparently the idea is to hire a new director and new (inexpensive, naturally) stars in the next few weeks. It might not be long before an entire new cast of principals has been announced. Another reason why they're forging ahead? As Variety says, "Columbia/Sony needs to continue actively developing "Spider Man" films or else the property will revert back to Disney/Marvel."

So while Vanderbilt wrote "Spider-Man 4" and was hired to write "Spider-Man 5 & 6," he was essentially, writing the reboot in secret (or writing "Spider-Man 5 & 6" was secret code for: Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are eventually going to dump this thing, start over." Though as we the trades reported and we wrote, "It appears that the studio isn't optimistic either — already bracing itself for a talent exodus as Vanderbilt's arc is reportedly set up as a potential rebooter." Ok, maybe it wasn't so "secret" but it's still pretty incredible to learn that his reboot script is done already. Alright Sony, we'll hand it to you, you're much smarter than you look.

No way he was cut big time for that role. I disagree there. Google it.

Lol, I dunno, just looks kinda weasley to me. I guess I'm just really not a big Toby M fan anyway, so that could be part of it.

As long as they don't bring in any of the Twilight stars (I'm thinking of Taylor Lautner (sp?) to play Peter, I'd probably be fine.

And I don't know if I could believe JK Simmons as J-Jonah anymore. I'm on season 6 of OZ...and, well....I'll never be able to look at a few actors (him and Christopher Merloni) the same.

I enjoyed the Raimi movies, but it probably is time for a reboot. Wasn't really a fan of the villains and whatnot in the 3rd, and think a slightly different direction (more edgy? Something different similar to what the Batman movies did, but obviously not exactly what they did).

A good thing is that this new movie will probably be out way sooner then they'd be able to crank out Spiderman 4, given all the problems they may have had with scheduling all that talent.

It's a shame Richard Donner is too old now but he'd fit like a glove as far as helming a Spidey project. He did a great job with the first two Superman movies way back when giving them a sense of wonder and there was a gentle bit of humor to it that told the viewers that while they're taking it seriously it's also fun stuff too.

                    Ah well...

Reading that report about the script being done and everything leads me to believe that this will be a flop. You don't go around saying a guy is writing one script but in secret is writing another.

They could have modeled the movie after the series on Hulu where Peter is in school and all.

I doubt they'll do it though. Just no more chumpy looking dudes who act like wuses and dont represent Spiderman well at all. The last movie was a complete disaster IMO

I'm hoping the Villain is Kraven. Its a legendary Spidey story that no one even THINKS to do. But with him back in HS and this possibly being an origin reboot i doubt that will happen.

Humm, yea completely rebooting the series only though its only been out 10 years are so and was very successful. With this reboot they could choose a different route to take.

When i grew up, i watched the Spiderman series on FoxKids but never knew who Gwen Staci was. If they decide to go a different route, hopefully they tackle some different ideas and routes not presented in the older movies.

Talking about Peter Parker being in high school, i'm reminded of the new Spectacular Spiderman series and how maybe their going to try to emulate that. However i do hope they touch on completely different villains though.

I'm gamed for a sequel or a reboot

I'd like to see the Gwen Stacy story told on the big screen with George Stacy more or less figuring out Peter is Spidey and stuff like that. That's one thing the movies under Raimi never really pulled off. His movies didn't pull off the whole "Peter being just a kid and trying to protect his secret ID".

Wonder if they're going for a more kid-friendly audience since Spidey will be in highschool. Peter can't get a date to the prom, OH NOOS.
