    Re: Spider-Man reboot in 2012

Some candid camera footage of the stunt man Spider-Man in action.

The suit looks bad from a distance.

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Apparently they're not going to have J. Jonah Jameson in this one.

Idk if it's just me but this has terrible written all over it. I actually enjoyed the last Spiderman series a lot, besides the 3rd that was just mediocre at best

Why do you say that? I like the cast and production photo. The candid shots look horrible, but hey so did some of the Batman Begins/TDK on-set shots.

I don't think this at all. So far the cast looks solid.

I'll wait until I see a trailer to judge.

If you happen to know, how did the Ultimate comics handle JJ early on?

Idk it just doesn't seem good to me so far atleast, obviously I'll wait for serious judgement until well it actually comes out.

Well, I do feel they made a bit of a misstep with the design of the suit and I'm not sold on Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, but like I said, I'll wait to judge it until I see a trailer. And even then that isn't going to be good enough.

I have faith in it. I would have preferred maybe one more Raimi film, just to see if he could redeem himself after the mess that was Spider-Man 3, but at the same time he could have just ruined the franchise further and we might have been looking at a reboot regardless.

I've only read a small sampling of the Ultimate Spidey line but here's what wiki says (I could post more of it but I think this hits the nail on the head)

In Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man, Jameson is essentially the same character as the original version, although younger in appearance. The most notable difference between the two versions is that in this continuity, Jonah has moved past his initial disdain of Spider-Man to become his most ardent public supporter.

Hmm, I was guessing maybe they left him out in the first few issues or something and that's why they don't have him in the movie. But that's assuming they're taking from the Ultimate comics, which I don't think has been confirmed.

Keep in mind that you're watching from what appears to be a low quality image from a low end camera.

When you combine editing, a sharper image, studio lighting, all that, it'll look amazing.

These candid shots are never going to make a film look good.

Spy pics have been coming in from the set of the Spider-Man reboot lately, and the latest batch to hit gives us a much better look at the wallcrawler's costume than the recently released official shot from Sony. Not that that's a good thing...

MTV's Splash Page has perhaps the best image, seen below. We see Spidey's mask in it, which seems to have red lenses rather than the usual white ones. We can also pretty clearly make out his mechanical webshooters, so score one for us old-school fans. And what's with those shoes? Air Spideys, anyone?

There are more photos over at Perez Hilton, too. Now, don't get your webbed panties all in a bunch over these images. As Splash Page notes, this is probably a stunt costume, which could be fairly different from the "hero" suit that will be the real star of the film. Those sneaker-type boots might not even be a part of the actual costume at all.

Or maybe they are. One thing is clear from these images, though: This is a very different Spider-Man suit than the Sam Raimi version.

Take note of the bolded part. But even still, I have to let out a big "What the ****?".

EDIT: One thing to note is that the lenses on the mask aren't red. It was probably the lighting.

                            Proof:

The fact that he'll have webshooters is awesome. I couldn't give a crap what they do with the costume, that's not really as make-or-break for me with a superhero movie as it seems to be for many people.

It's a stunt suit. Those shots are going to be so quick, edited, no one would notice any differences.

They aren't going to spend the money to size the real suit for a stunt double.
