Thought it looked good. Not great, but good. Still highly anticipated. The Lizard looked incredible as did the story. Just not sold on Garfield. While I think he's the perfect nerd per say, I keep thinking he's going to go out, stop crime and come home and check facebook. LOL

That's why he's so good for the role. I could picture a young Peter Parker doing EXACTLY that in a modern setting.

I think they're going for a tone that's a little dark but not so overly gritty as to pull down the story. Some of the best Spidey stories ever have had some very emotional or a bit of a dark tone to them.


As for the trailer....WOW! I'm sold on this after being totally underwhelmed by the teaser trailer.

They still have dollar theaters? In our area (New Orleans metro) they've been done for what seems like seven or eight years.

We have an older theater in Kenner (Hollywood 9) that charges $8 top price versus $10 everywhere else but they show first run features on time. I still don't know how they've survived since reopening about 10 years ago. Their audiences are dismal. A big crowd is 50 people.

Why wait for the dollar show, when you can see a weekday matinee for $5?

4 dollars for 3d movies!
And matinee is not 5 dollars here. It at least 8

To be fair, 2 minutes of anything is fairly better than Spidey3.

That trailer looked great, though.

To be even more fair, 2 minutes of the Spider-man 3 trailer is better than the actual move itself.

Now on to this, as some know here a I'm a huge Spider-man but I'm taking this cautiously. I'll be there midnight release like the last 3 but... I'm not getting myself in the I can't wait to see it mode.

Couples things about the trailer I don't like. One being a lot of shots of him without the mask while wearing the rest of the suit. This was an issue in the other movies. Spider-man takes the mask thing as serious as it gets and you don't see this with Bale in the Batman movies. Unless it's around Alfred.

Now the Lizard IMO is not a main movie villain. Unless we're talking about the new lizard from the comics which this isn't.

To me this reboot should have started with a 3 movies in mind all centered around one figure. The Kingpin. You have different villains along the way but the goal is to reveal and put Fisk away.

I'm surprised they haven't done anything with Kingpin now that you mention it. I mean, its seems like it would be pretty straight forward considering his parallels to a mafia boss. He was in Daredevil, but that was a horrible job at including him.

How many times can they reboot superhero films?

Was it really necessary to reboot this just 5 years after the last series ended? I guess that's the normal shelf life now, seeing that is how quick the Hulk was redone.

I think they treat Kingpin in general as more of a bane to Daredevil than Spider-Man despite being a pain to both guys. It's been perceived that way a lot.

I think The Lizard is fine as a movie villain, and especially for the first movie.

Also remember that they were close to having Vulture in Spider-Man 4, so I much prefer this.

I'll definitely see it, but it looks very predictable. I'll probably get stoned for saying this, but with Batman finishing its excellent series, and The Avengers gathering together everything they've done so far, I don't see how this one can carve out its own place.

I know it's Spiderman, but it's very early to retell the story in the theaters.

Looks good. I think the antagonist will be the big note here, though. Alfred Molina's portrayal of Otto Octavius just couldn't have been better. SM2 was almost a perfect Spider-Man film. I think this one will be leaps better than 1 or 3, though (didn't really hold a soft spot for 1 ever).
