Sound/Audio question re: New Receiver and Xbox 360

Ok...I'll do the best I can in describing this....

I just bought a new receiver for my surround sound system, upgrading from an older Onkyo model with no HDMI inputs to the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K. It got rave reviews from CNET, etc. and I think it sounds great. It's also nice to now have 4 HDMI ports in the back to plug my Dish Network HD DVR receiver, Xbox 360 250G Special Edition with HD/DVD player, and...as soon as it comes in stock....my new Playstation 3.

I have it hooked up to my 60" Hitachi Ultravision 1080i HDTV. The Dish receiver, and my 360 are all HDMI hooked up now through the receiver.

The sound is very nice (other than the bass isn't quite as "booming" from my sub as it was out of my older Onkyo receiver) but I have one issue.

The sound when I play "Inside Xbox" or Game trailers on my 360 doesn't work.

Now...the actual sound from games work, and the sound when I surfing around on the 360 dashboard works, but the sound disappears as soon as I try and watch an "Inside Xbox" episode or say..for example...the Bioshock 2 launch trailer.

I also checked to see if my sound from the Xbox add on HD DVD player is working and it sure is.

The sound was working fine on my Onkyo last night.

Now I'm far from an expert on this stuff, but...is it because the type of audio "switches" in those streaming Xbox vids and previews...and my newer model doesn't automatically "switch" with them...leaving me with no sound?

    Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE: Just checked a "non HD" channel on my Dish Receiver and ....no sound there either.

Apparently I don't have my receiver calibrated for regular stereo sound? Is that it?

For whatever reason, your AVR isn't picking up standard def. sound. Have you gone through the setup?

EDIT: Check here as someone with the same problem figured it out. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/archi...t-1144472.html

So do I need to use a Digital Coax from the TV to the receiver?

Also...since I'm using HDMI from the Xbox...I can't use anything else to get the analog signal when watching the "inside Xbox" vids.

I wish I knew more about this stuff. I'm an electronics junkie but I"m completely lost when this stuff doesn't work.

I turned off the Kuro Link in the system setup and got the analog from the TV working.

But the Xbox 360 still won't play audio on the "inside Xbox" episodes and it won't play the audio for Gametrailers either.

Not playing sound on Netflix Instant View either if the sound is broadcast in stereo.

        UGH!!!

Post your problem on AVS forums. Anytime I have ever had an issue with anything related to audio / video they have pointed me in the right direction. Ton of activity on that board and most likely within an hour of posting your issue, someone will tell you how to resolve it.

I fixed it on both the TV and the Xbox now. Went into the Xbox dashboard, went to audio options clicked off of Dolby 5.1 and onto regular stereo...then went back and reclicked on Dolby 5.1.

Now it's working on the streaming Xbox stuff, trailers, and Netflix again.

            Go figure.

Don't know how I did it. I guess it was a glitch and I just had to recalibrate it or something.

Regardless...love the new receiver minus this minor setback.

Basically, everytime you add something, you always have to reset stuff. Pretty common thing most people forget to do. People just assume everything will automatically detect and switch over.
