I just bought a new receiver for my surround sound system, upgrading from an older Onkyo model with no HDMI inputs to the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K. It got rave reviews from CNET, etc. and I think it sounds great. It's also nice to now have 4 HDMI ports in the back to plug my Dish Network HD DVR receiver, Xbox 360 250G Special Edition with HD/DVD player, and...as soon as it comes in stock....my new Playstation 3.
I have it hooked up to my 60" Hitachi Ultravision 1080i HDTV. The Dish receiver, and my 360 are all HDMI hooked up now through the receiver.
The sound is very nice (other than the bass isn't quite as "booming" from my sub as it was out of my older Onkyo receiver) but I have one issue.
The sound when I play "Inside Xbox" or Game trailers on my 360 doesn't work.
Now...the actual sound from games work, and the sound when I surfing around on the 360 dashboard works, but the sound disappears as soon as I try and watch an "Inside Xbox" episode or say..for example...the Bioshock 2 launch trailer.
I also checked to see if my sound from the Xbox add on HD DVD player is working and it sure is.
The sound was working fine on my Onkyo last night.
Now I'm far from an expert on this stuff, but...is it because the type of audio "switches" in those streaming Xbox vids and previews...and my newer model doesn't automatically "switch" with them...leaving me with no sound?
Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE: Just checked a "non HD" channel on my Dish Receiver and ....no sound there either.
Apparently I don't have my receiver calibrated for regular stereo sound? Is that it?
