Microsoft has just unveiled a lineup of 7 phones for this holiday season.

I've seen the demo video of the HTC HD7 and it's much more smoother and responsive than I would have expected.

wow..............so Verizon not getting a windows 7 phone ? All I seen was At&t, T-mobile and Sprint. And of all those phones only the HD7 for T-mobile suits my tastes. However T-mobile has no presence in my state.

I think they are getting it, but not until next year (not 100% sure about that). Naturally I have AT&T and both T-mobile and Sprint have better devices. Still though, I do like the Samsung phone for AT&T, and I LOVE the UI of this OS.

I don't think it's so much that Verizon was shafted as they aren't too keen on Windows Phone 7, right now.


Asked whether Verizon saw Microsoft as a major player in mobile, CEO Lowell McAdam said no, and that “Microsoft is not at the forefront of our mind.”

“I can’t really say which phones we’ll offer yet. We like our relationship with Microsoft. But clearly in the U.S. there are three major mobile operating systems
: RIM, Google, and Apple,” he said.

McAdam was then asked if his skepticism in regards to Windows Phone 7 had anything to do with the disaster of their Kin phone. He refused to be roped in to the question, but did say this:

“Our device suppliers have to demonstrate to us that they will be developing leading edge products. And if they are not leading edge, then we can’t afford to carry them in our stores. But if they are innovative, we’ll offer them.”

WP7 phones all look pretty solid, if not cutting edge. At this point, the software is too immature to compete with iOS and android. Lack of multitasking and a small number of apps will keep people from switching in the short-term. I'm going to keep a close eye on its advancements in the next year as it has a lot of potential.

Does anyone have any of the AT&T phones? I'm thinking about the Samsung Focus, but I have a question. Can I browse the internet in the middle of a call like the iPhone can?

I think you can do that with any AT&T smart phones. Not positive about that though.

I am thinking about getting the Focus as well, especially with the recent showings of multi-tasking and twitter integration into the "People" hub.

I just got the Samung Focus i917. Picked it up used on ebay in almost new condition (Screen was perfect. Just a slight nick on one side, which is now covered by the case.)
Its my first smart phone and I'm enjoying it. I like how it automatically synched with my xbox live and hotmail.
I was able to get the unlock code free by calling AT&T (I am on T-mobile).

I have the HTC Titan, and its the best phone I've ever owned. I understood peoples complaints about the lack of some key features before the Mango update, but now it has pretty much everything that iOS and Android does, and I believe a superior UI.

Yes. It surprised me too. I figured I'd give it a shot before I paid for a code. They even offered to walk me through the process.

If you are out of contract, they are required to give you the code. Now usually that means you have to wait 2 years though.
