Re: Looking for a 50 in / 120hz HDTV under 1.2k
I'd agree with that. With a $1200 budget you have a ton of options at 50 inches in plasmas. Just depends on if you want 1080p and then which brand (Samsung and Panasonic usually get the best reviews. LG is the newest to the party and the least expensive of the 3.)Comment

1080p would be ideal, but price is the most important here.Comment

Dude get the Panny for 750.00 I bought that tv and LOVE my decision, I game on it dailey, never had ANY problems with burn in and even though it's 720p does 1080p really make that much off a difference, for the cost, you'll be looking at least 300.00 more for 1080 p in that tv, keep the money and get a 750.00 tv you'll love, I promise.....Comment

Re: Looking for a 50 in / 120hz HDTV under 1.2k
You can get a 50-inch Panasonic plasma 720p that is 600 hZ -- all plasmas are 600 hZ -- for $750:

I have this set, and it's fantastic. You'll never want to watch sports on LCD at 120 hZ -- too much motion blur -- once you've seen sports in plasma. Plus plasma has darker blacks and more vivid colors than LCD, and the viewing angles are much wider, great if you have a pretty horizontal room shape.
The difference between 720p and 1080i is negligible if you're 10 feet away from the screen or more. Plus ESPN broadcasts only in 720p, as progressive is better than interlaced for high-motion video like sports, so you're not going to get much out of 1080p if you watch a lot of ESPN.Comment

Re: Looking for a 50 in / 120hz HDTV under 1.2k
You only noticed the difference between 720p and 1080p on blu ray movies. But its not a huge difference like say going from SDTV to HDTV. Me personally I can't roll with plasmas, all my rooms have a lot of light in them and the significant other in the house can't watch tv in the dark anyway because of her eyes..
But I got my Samsung LCD though and that mofo is kicking !Comment

Whatever, on newegg it's a $45 difference. I can live with that.Comment

Re: Looking for a 50 in / 120hz HDTV under 1.2k
Awesome TV, thats the one I bought approx. a month ago and Ive had absolutely zero issues with it. I sit around 10-12 feet away from the TV so going 1080p, while nice in principle, it wouldnt have made a big enough difference to spend the extra money. I game on my PS3 all the time and it not only looks amazing but Ive never once had any issue with image retention at all.Comment

Re: Looking for a 50 in / 120hz HDTV under 1.2k
Since the TV is 50'', which wall mount should I go with? One is 30''-50'', the other is 30''-56''. They're both the same price.

The only reason I'm considering the second one is because I want to make sure I have that extra space if necessary. What do you guys recommend? Am I being too paranoid by considering the 30-56''?Comment

Re: Looking for a 50 in / 120hz HDTV under 1.2k
I always go bigger, being that not all companies measure the same. I once bought a mount that said 26 to 42 inches. However that brand 42 inches wasn't a full 42 inches and the holes didn't line up with my 42 inch tv.Comment
