How To Make It In America - HBO Series

I'm surprised their isn't a thread about this yet... Talk about a show with potential!

I've always dreamt about just packing up and moving to NYC and this show definitely has the feel of what I imagine the city to be like. It's produced by the same people who are responsible for Entourage. For some that'll be a great thing, others....


It also seems to be a little hip hop heavy which is another aspect I really like about it. Kid Cudi plays a character in the show, hopefully we'll get to see more of him throughout the season.

The first episode is on YouTube and iTunes for free.

From those that have seen it, thoughts?

The start was hilarious on the bike...then it kind of just lost it. I don't like the characters..although I thought the plot of the episode was kind of funny. I guess it is hard to base it on a pilot.

Anyone else in on this show yet? I know the ratings weren't too good for it in in it's debut week but knowing HBO they'll at least let it run all the way through it's first season.

I think the third episode has been my favorite so far.

HBO doesnt cancel shows midseason so its safe. I think it will get a second season. It is performing better than Hung and The Life and Times of Tim and both of those shows got a 2nd season

Like it so far... THey just got to keep in realistic and not turn it into Entourage, where there is a happy ending every third episode.

same writers too....i like the show, but Cudi is just out there and a terrible actor ahaha

Agreed. It wasn't nearly funny enough to be considered a comedy and the drama just wasn't compelling.

Not to mention both lead characters in Hung became very unlikeable, especially that woman. And to be honest I really didn't buy those two kids as his kids, they not only didn't look anything like him but their body types were of really heavy people and both the main guy and his former wife were petite, nice looking people. Or did I somehow miss the "these kids are adopted" revelation??

Episode Four was alright. Not really much happening, but it did develop the characters a little more. I want to see more Luis Guzman and the business side of the show. This ex-gf stuff with Rachel is not interesting at all to me.
