Inside jokes are annoying and piss people off. Movies that are a revolving inside joke really piss people off. Unfunny inside joke movies by fat smug directors that develop cult followings really really piss people off.

I don't know anyone who is "pissed off" by Kevin Smith movies. In fact, most people I know enjoy Kevin Smith movies.

Even for a New Jersan, I think he's a decent person.

Coming from a resident of NJ, Kevin Smith is one of the few people I don't like (even if I enjoy some of his films). Smith comes off as smug and arrogant, and frankly I'm glad he was embarrassed publicly like this, maybe this will be the wake up call for him to get healthy so that he can avoid the health problems associated with obesity.

Obviously the comment was made to showcase the fact that there are arguably just as many people who hate Kevin Smith movies out there as there are those who like them. You said most of your friends like him which means your probably align yourself with a particular group of people and believe their opinions to be representative of the majority. Just look at something like this forum for instance, some people like his movies, some hate them. It more or less reflects the vibe I've gotten from people over the years.

If I was him, I'd lose weight and slim down to an acceptable size, then book three seats on my next flight. Granted, it would be stupid financially, but at least he would get some personal satisfaction.

Completely wrong. Outside of Clerks and Chasing Amy, his movies have recieved mediocre or bad reviews. Especially the past 10 years. I don't think he's had one favorably reviewed movie this entire decade. I dislike Kevin Smith and have only been responding to people quoting me and offering an alternative to my viewpoint that furthers discussion. Hate to tell ya, but I have a right to talk about him as much as you do.
