Adam is always right in every single thread on OS - everybody else is always 100% utterly wrong no matter the criteria or basis of the argument. Case closed.

So according to RT definition, again the standard that FT is going by with his argument (that is fundamentally flawed), only 2 out of 8 Kevin Smith movies are considered their equivalent of favorable.
I wasn't using their definition. I was using yours. Don't like Rotten Tomatoes reviews? IMDB shows similar results:

      Zach and Miri: 7.1 stars
      Clerks 2: 7.7
      Jersey Girl: 6.3
      Jay and Silent Bob: 6.8
      Dogma: 7.3
      Chasing Amy: 7.5
      Mallrats: 7.1
      Clerks: 8.0

On IMDB, anyone can vote, as long as you sign up. This time, all but one of his movies met your criteria, and the one that missed was by the smallest of margins.

Don't even bother - he'll throw out some modification to his basis or label it wrong/fundamentally flawed/etc and ignore it.

          1. As mentioned in essentially every post, argument is flawed and is for the sake of argument.

          2. I gave my criteria for RT, imdb is another beast. I don't go on it enough or have an understanding for what is the norm to say anything conclusively about it.

          3. FT used RT to support his case, not me.

You mean actually use facts and rationale instead of generalities like in your previous post. An old soul once told me reverting to generalities instead of facts reflects the tone of a beaten man.

Once again, I was using your criteria. Not Rotten Tomatoes. Based on YOUR criteria, he has four movies that fall into the favorable category (fact). Keep changing it up if you want, but all I see is someone trying to backtrack.

I imagine this is the post you are referring to-

"Completely wrong. Outside of Clerks and Chasing Amy, his movies have recieved mediocre or bad reviews. Especially the past 10 years. I don't think he's had one favorably reviewed movie this entire decade. I dislike Kevin Smith and have only been responding to people quoting me and offering an alternative to my viewpoint that furthers discussion. Hate to tell ya, but I have a right to talk about him as much as you do."

I never even looked at RT before posting that, and I have to say I was more or less right. What was it, 2 other movies barely gracing 65 percent? Barely favorable in my generous criteria and mediocre in many others (Including the site itself).

Even using my generous ratings, 4 out of 8 movies receiving "favorable" reviews is a valid argument to show that the majority of reviewers/public/etc like his movies?

And you never acknowledged the hundreds of times I've said RT reviews aren't indicative of the point we are arguing. Keep ignoring it all you want, but I just see it as someone who is dodging.

Ressurection thread for personal vendetta, gotta love it. Since when do you have to be funny to have a valid opinion about comedy films? Do you know how to write a great action script? If not you have no credibility reviewing the Dark Night. Do you have to quote a coherent rhyme in your signature in order to have a credible opinion of music? Wait, errr.

lol... the posts that I quote are the one's that I have been referring to. I am not arguing that the majority of people like his movies. I only know what myself, my friends, and the people who I have heard discuss it think about his films, so I'm not going to argue over something like that. Most people I know like his films. I think that he has a few good one's, and a few that are pretty bad. You seem to hate him because you don't understand his "inside jokes" (which are actually pretty easy to understand if you've seen his other movies).

The point that I'm making is that someone asked you what your criteria was for seeing if a movie was favored. You posted that criteria, and when you discovered that four movies fell into that category, you tried to change your stance.

I'm not dodging anything. I'm just pointing out that you have your opinion just like everyone else, but you can't seem to accept any other opinion if it doesn't match your own.

If you want my opinion on Rotten Tomatoes, I've visited that site more in the past 24 hours than I have in my entire life. I prefer IMDB for information on movies. I would say that both of them are pretty fair when it comes to judging how well a film is enjoyed by the public, but Tomatoes is a little cynical for my tastes.

The core argument concerning this matter revolved around the fact that Tendrils made a comment that the majority of his movies were rated above average, I said that wasn't true. You and I are both agreeing that 4 out of Smith's 8 movies were above average using my random criteria I created on a whim. That is not the majority. How was I wrong?

If you consider that Kevin Smith's wife is way skinny, this becomes even more perplexing.

Based on my criteria of what is "favorable", you are wrong. We both know comedies are reviewed the hardest and are often left out of the mix concerning the G.O.A.T lists and discussions which is why I think anything above a 55-60 is worth checking out and favorable. Whether or not I think its good comes down to me. I just use RT as a financial-adviser so to speak.

I'm not even a big fan of the guy, but his movies (like most comedies) aren't for everyone. You've made it pretty clear that not only do you not like his movies, Kevin Smith has seemed to performed some kind of abrasive transgression against you to which the whole world must be made aware about. That's cool; however, disliking something but still being able to find good qualities don't necessarily have to on opposite sides. There are things I don't enjoy, but I can understand why people like them and don't resort to pot-shots to rouse a response.

Not true. Many good comedies rank in the 80's and even 90's like every other good movie. Superbad, Knocked Up, etc. I'm glad we agree that your perception of favorable is your opinion and others don't have to feel that way. I don't live in your world.

I don't like his movies and think he's pretentious and full of himself, but look at the title of this thread. He is living an extreme life and is a comedian himself, many "potshots" revolved around the cartoonish lifestyle he is living. I would have to think he is not immune to ridicule, again maybe not in your world where it is OK to take shots against posters but not celebrities.
