Cool thanks. This RoConnect seems to be working okay so far. I'll check this video out and see if I can figure it out. I was able to select a folder but I couldn't figure out how to make it visible or to initiate the upload or whatever.

The new version of Plex sucks. If RoConnect works for you, stick with it. If you can get one of the older versions set up, then it might be worth looking into.

Yeah, it's kinda weird. So I guess I have to copy/paste the files into the path folder then "index" them on the RoConnect server app site thingy?

With Plex, you can just tell it what folders your media is in and it'll do the rest of the work for you.

Would I be able to select specific files within the folder? Or does it sync up all the files in a given folder?

Also, Plex is free? I figured maybe it wasn't syncing or whatever because I didn't pay?

It's free. It'll detect all the files in whatever folder(s) you direct it to. Say you keep all your movies in one folder, you point it there and tell it there's movies in there. Same with TV shows, music, photos, etc.

Cool device. Anyone got any tips, tricks, suggested channels, etc?

I'm using RoConnect to put files up from my computer to watch. Is there something easier or better? I tried Plex but I couldn't figure it out.
There's a private channel that allows you to watch youtube on the roku. I forget the name of it but you can search for "youtube on roku" and should be able to find it.

I'd made separate folders for movies and tv shows. Plex does a good job of selecting the correct cover art and information. Sometimes you'll have to go in and edit things manually though.

So I'm thinking of picking up a roku tomorrow and I'm wondering if the 1 is good enough or should I do the 2 or 3. It won't be to far from my router so the dual band in the 2 and 3 shouldn't make much of a difference and I couldn't care less about the the headphone jack in the remote. So anyone who has the 1 have any input?

You need to get the Roku 3 if you want to skip wifi and go ethernet, FYI. It's the only one with an ethernet port.

Does anyone have the Roku stick and can give some impressions? I have the Roku 2 XS(3100x) and am thinking about upgrading. Was going to grab the three but then I saw the 3500R stick today. My 2 has been having some issues like resetting while watching and browsing videos, especially when fast forwarding or rewinding. It does it in multiple apps. Even though it's in a pretty well ventilated area it seems like it overheats and completely resets. Not only that but I'd like the updated apps and YouTube.
                        PS: You guys are great.

I've heard nothing but good things. My suggestion is to just compare the features, and if the Stick does all you need/want it to, go for that.

Roku provides the simplest way to stream entertainment to your TV. On your terms. With thousands of available channels to choose from.

I've had the Roku stick for about a week and it works just like the Roku 3, except for the games and faster processor, I haven't had any issues and I love it because I can stick it to the back of the TV and forget about it.

I have the Roku 2 XS as well and the stick is an improvement over the XS, and for 50 bucks I think its a good deal
