This doesn't excuse Skylar's actions, but are they worse than what Walt has done? No way.
What no one is mentioned is who she is cheating on Walt with.

Beneckey or whatever his name is - is a white collar criminal. Skyler even confronted him on it and he gave the same speech walt did only less involved.

he is 'cooking' the books and walt was 'cooking' the meth - the difference is that walt can and did stop and the other guy has to keep doing it to keep him and his business afloat.

It's an interesting social dynamic and comment happening here: Skyler seems to be ok with the white collar fraud and not Walt's venture. One could even argue that in Walt's crime no one is cheated out of money and that all transactions are consensual.

I'm wondering if they will keep this kind of social commentary subtle like it is now, or potentially have someone like the Walt character discover the fraud and roast Skyler for it. It's interesting. If it were to stay subtle it's only there for people who a) notice it b) spend a bit of time thinking about it

I'm sure this will surface more as the show goes on, but I like that how during the cheating with the sex and all that, the fraud wasn't in any conversations allowing you to forget about it in a way so that it wasn't too obvious.

Great point about her acceptance of one over the other. I was thinking along those lines when she asked Beneke how he would explain it to his daughters. Another thing is that at some level it seems Skyler is directly involved in Beneke's fraud, through her tacit approval and advise as the accountant.

As for the Skyler vs Walt morality thing. While I think Walt's actions were worse, as a person, Skyler comes out as worse due to her having purely vile motives.

Great point. Her cheating on Walt needs to stop now. That scene this past episode made me sick

Finally got caught up with the series. I glad I didn't wonder in here during that time.... some of you guys may not think you're giving out spoilers, but you are. That's a condition I would have put on the thread title. Regardless, people should know that's potentially a problem if they go into a thread w/o having watched a show.

Man, the contingenicies characters have on each other in this early going is ridiculous. Even Saul's character is delivering. No doubt more awards for this show will happen after this season. However, I hope they don't extend this show longer than it needs to be. I hate nothing more than seeing it go out with a fizzle vs. a bang.

All I want to do is discuss the show - for what reason would someone come in the thread and ruin plot lines for themselves. What are we to talk about if we can't talk about what's going on in the show? I like to watch the show and discuss it as do the others. "spoilers" are implied imo. My thoughts are that if someone goes right to the end of this thread without having seen the show and spoils some things - that's their fault...what would that person expect us to be talking about.

great point about Saul being a strong character - i was surprised because this guy used to be on 'mr. show' and I just never pictured him as a serious actor.

I agree-I'll sprinkle in some spoilers every now and than but isn't this thread supposed to be a discussion on "Breaking Bad"? On another point daflyboys, I want to see this show last as long as possible!

One of my all time favorite TV exchanges was when that guy asked him "Do you know who you are now?" and he said "yeah" and the guy says "So who are you?" and he says "I'm the bad guy".

I can't think of the guys name right now but the younger guy who's Walts partner. Dangit, what the heck is his name???

Another great episode and the previews for next week have me itching for more!

I absolutely LOVED how they tied in a dead character with current events just like last week. The writing in this show is some of the best EVER on television.

I love this show. It's so hard to wait a week to find out what happens next. The opening was so freaking cool...going back to a previous event and giving the viewers an inside look at the actions of Jessie and his crew. Also, the scene at the dinner table was fantastic. What a great shot, with Walt on one side of the table, their son and daughter in the middle, and Skyler on the end...with the wall separating the husband and wife. Wow...I just really loved that shot. Great show.

Yes, I also thought that shot was just perfect.

Right....we should be able to come in here and talk about what was just broadcasted with some openness.

But how about if you're going to reveal anything about the previews for the next week, you announce that's what you're spoiler is about. Some of us avoid the preview and commercials during the week because it sometime ruins the element of surprise when they do run the episode.

If I haven't seen the episode for the week yet I don't go into the thread. Everyone else with any common sense should do the same. And if you don't then you deserve the "spoiler" for being an idiot.
