... and then Aaron Paul brilliantly brought all those qualms back as he showed a red-eyed, trembling Jesse bracing himself to pull the trigger and kill Gale. Bang, he's dead(**), and Walt has for now bought some time with Gus - who, with the cartel coming at him again, needs a talented meth cook far more than he needs revenge - but at the cost of Gale's life, and the last vestige of Jesse's own innocence. And any detente will only last as long as it takes for Gus to find a new way around his chemistry problem.

(**) Though the camera's movement right before Jesse pulls the trigger may have created the illusion that he aimed his gun elsewhere, Vince (who directed as well as wrote this one) says that was not his intention. Gale is not pining for the fjords; he is an ex-human.

See? Vince Gilligan himself has confirmed that Gale is dead.

I think Gale was an undercover DEA agent of some sort. I haven't read anything about that at all, it's just a hunch.

I wasn't able to watch the last 3 episodes for various reasons, then did so between last night and today. I now will be trying to go without the oxygen mask for the rest of today. Might as well make room for more Emmys.

Old news, but I just found out about it today. The start of the new season was pushed back to July instead of March.

That sucks.

I hear ya, I about shed a tear.

They are going to be making a bunch of short episodes (5-min type things) to help bridge the gap. Supposedly they'll actually push the plot line and not just be a bunch of fluff.

We'll see.

Very possible given the cost of making the show and the momentum of the storyline, but it's all speculation.

Because of the July 2011 air date, Breaking Bad will be ineligible for Emmys handed out in the summer of 2011, thus breaking Bryan Cranston's streak of 3 Outstanding Actor Emmys, although it was improbable that he would get a fourth straight. I think the cutoff for eligibility is May 31, 2011.

I knew Cranston was going to get the three-peat, which is awesome, but it was even more rewarding to me as a fan of the show to see Aaron Paul come away with some hardware of his own. After his hospital bed scene (I'll tell you what happens next...) from the episode "One Minute" I knew he was at least going to get a nomination. His monologue from his hospital bed in that scene may in fact be the best performance in a single scene by any actor on the show. The only reason people don't talk about it more is because of the explosive ending of that episode that overshadows it.

His other monologue from his hospital bed in the same episode (I have nothing...) was also damn good.
