Any of you guys have a more old school taste in music?

Almost all the songs on my Ipod are older rock bands like AC/DC, Guns 'N' Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, the Scorpians, Black Sabbath, Journey, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica and so on. I have a couple newer bands like the White Stripes on there but for the most part I have no modern bands or songs on there. When ever I tell people what is on my Ipod they always find it strange I don't have more modern stuff on there since I am only 21.

Any of you other younger guys have similar taste in music, as far being almost strictly old school?

Yes, but not a fan of head banger stuff. I'm still confused why Journey is listed among the other bands there....hehe.

Lately I've been trying to limit my music to 90's and early 00's because it reminds me of better times. Not sure if that'd be considered old school yet though.

I'm the same way as you are mgloblue678. The latest music I have on my ipod is mostly early 90's music. I mean I do have some newer stuff than that but it's by older bands like Tool.

Most modern bands today are simply not as good as the old bands. I think the music scene has gone very generic and one-size-fits-all is the issue. But then maybe i'm just like a grandpa who says the new music sucks and the old big band music is the best, lol.

Oh and Journey is a great band! I saw them in concert last year and they were awesome.

Well, it's not that I don't like most of the bands you mentioned (Journey, I can't stand). I've just moved on. Most of those groups aren't releasing the same quality music they were back in the day, though AC/DC has released the same cd every year since they started Lol. Anyways, I'm just not into alot of the newer material these guys release, and I HAVE to have new music, which is why I prefer the more recent music. Alot of the groups I listen to started in the 90's.

That's how I was in high school. There's a lot of good music nowadays - hard to try and keep up with everything for me and then still get into older bands that I haven't listened to yet.

Forgot to add Soundgarden and Pearl Jam to that list. Have some songs from them on their as well.

As far as Journey goes, I honestly don't like most of their songs but I like a couple.

I have only have one or two songs on my Ipod from most of the bands with the exception of AC/DC and Guns 'N's Roses where I have four or five.

I would agree with that, but I honestly don't need those bands to release any new material. I can honestly listen to some of the songs on there forever and never get sick of them. I can still enjoy most of them as well I did when I first heard them.

I really agree with ODogg that a lot the newer music can't hold a candle to some of the older stuff, at least IMO.

^^^What can I say, my taste is very select in that regard. I really don't like all of the songs on that album. That is the album I got most of their songs from though.

I'm the same way. like 98% classic stuff, 2% newer.

I listen to Billy Talent, White Stripes, System of a Down, Muse, and a couple others as my new stuff...

I'm not strictly old school, but I do have a lot of older stuff in my collection. Mostly the same as you, with the old Metallica, Pantera, Ozzy, Quiet Riot, Scorpions, Kansas, Queen, Journey, Jimi, Rush, Skid Row, etc. Not a lot of AC/DC though, and no KISS.

Lets see...today at work we were listening to Them Crooked Vultures (new), James Brown, Led Zeppelin, Motorhead, and Grateful Dead. With the exception of the Dead, all of those are on my iPod.

Yep, same here. I don't talk music that much since there's little newer music I like and don't keep up on it at all. For my older stuff I'd say - Led Zeppelin, The Who, Hendrix, Beatles.

But I'm trying to get into newer music. (White Stripes, Muse and a few others)
