Old School for me. Don't get me wrong I like some of todays R & B and a little Rap sprinkled in depending on the artist. But give me some Guy, Miles Jaye, Christoper Williams, New Edition, Toni Tony Tone, Luther's Busy Body CD, The Deele, Isley Brothers along with a few others and I am good to go. Peace!!!

I am more into the old school Motown and Stax Records era. Johnnie Taylor, Tyrone Davis, The Temptations and so on and so on. There are only a handful of artists that I actually follow today such as Brian McKnight, Raheem DeVaughn and Alicia Keys but other than that I find today's music very underwhelming.Comment

I have a Journey CD on my iPod. And a bunch of Springsteen. I think that's about it for old stuff.
And I also have a bunch of White Stripes. Which reminds me *goes and downloads their new live CD*.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

And yes I am still in to this music, but I was raised on this music, but I am 38, so I had some ties with these bands. Been to so many back stage concerts, so I met a lot of these bands. And my brother was in a small home down band, so he knew all these bands too. And in fact Kirk H. was friends with my brother. So I will always have a place for hard work in my life. In fact Joe S taught my brother too in Berkeley. Weird guy, but one hell of a player. I love GNR and was crushed when they broke up. But Axel and Slash are just too stubborn.Comment

I do agree that most newer stuff doesn't hold a candle to alot of the classic stuff (Zeppelin especially and Black "Ozzy" Sabbath). I've heard so much of that my whole life (37 years worth) and I like new music as much as possible. There is never enough cds in my forever growing collection. I enjoy the fact that I have so much to choose from on any given day. There are times I'll spend half an hour trying to decide what I want to listen to lol.Comment

The 2 album ones were sweet too. I remember waiting in a long *** line to get it at Tower Records store. Man those albums kicked ***! But Appetite for Destruction is my all time favorite, though my favorite song of theirs is "Coma." But "Night Train" is a close second. I like AD/CD, but I liked them Bon Scott. I just love his voice. That was one strange dude too. Never met him, but I have met the other band members. Angus was so short. I was almost as tall as him and I was 10 years old.Comment

Re: Any of you guys have a more old school taste in music?
I've maintained that "Appetite" was rock's final masterpiece. The genre didn't die or anything following its release, but nothing came close to topping it. As good as "Paradise City," "Sweet Child of Mine," and "Welcome to the Jungle" are, "Rocket Queen," "Think About You," and "It's So Easy" are just as great and far less popular. The two part "Use Your Illusion" had its moments, but never came close to touching "Appetite."Comment

I'm a 70s, 80s, and 90s fan. Loved Motown from the 70s and loved the synthesized sounds of the 80s. Hip hop and rap were at it's best in the 90s IMO.Comment

I just got Use Your Illusion II this past week - I've been rocking it out in my car. Really enjoying it. Not a bad song on that album either.

Yeah, Appetite is awesome from start to finish. I doubt I would say its rock's last great album, but its one of the best albums I have. I think a lot of people take Axl's vocals for granted - I think they fail to realize how much he could change the style of his voice to give each song a distinct character.

I like some old-school rap, like NWA, The DOC, Eric B. and Rakim, Tupac, Sugarhill Gang, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg's first album, Coolio, Eminem's first couple of albums, etc.My Teams:
NCAA FB-Oregon Ducks
NCAA BB-Gonzaga Bulldogs
NBA-Portland Trail Blazers
NFL-Carolina Panthers
MLB-San Francisco Giants
NHL-Los Angeles Kings
Won't change this signature until Oregon wins a national championship (started 3/10/10)

Re: Any of you guys have a more old school taste in music?
Most music that is new is just old. My Zune is filled with classic music. Most of the newer hip-hop music is ripped-off samples of old classics from the 70's and 80's.
Oldskool Artists I keep coming back to:
1. Al Green
2. Sam Cooke
3. Stevie Wonder
4. Ray Charles
5. Prince
6. The Eagles
7. Otis Redding
8. Zapp & Roger(way better than Auto-Tune)
9. Aretha Franklin
10. Michael Jackson
Kanye West isnt useful for much, but he is a useful source for finding oldskool music. Here's just a small example of some of the music he sampled. I found a number of good old songs he sampled that I wouldn't have known about otherwise.
