Well a lot of people don't even know how contrast ratios are measured, so that was a dumb mentioning from me. But the overall visuals what you see with your actual eyes make more since. So far the new Samsung C7000 3D LED looks great. I was in Best Buy watching Monsters vs Aliens on it and then switched to CBS and watched the Tournament on it, and it looked amazing. With amazing depth on the screen and incredible lighting and colors.

Like the other guy said though! The new Sony EX700 is an amazing television as well. Black Levels are perfect and colors are amazing.

At the end of the day you have to trust your own eyes and buy what you can afford.

yeah that's the problem. my eyes will say "LED!!" but my wallet will say "LCD idiot!!" I'm going check them out this week..

I'd wait on any TV purchase with the 3D revolution about to take place. With broadcasts and blu rays scheduled in 3D this year, plus the Nintendo 3DS should be out early next, you can see where the market is going..

I can't see 3D taking off.

2 sets of glasses is $350. I'd have to spend $700 just for my family to watch a movie, let alone having friends over.

Then 3D Blu-ray's are going to be $40-50 each, add in a $350 player (have to upgrade your BD player, and movies), plus the high expense of the TV. Yeah, don't see it taking off any time soon.

Maybe a few years.

Lomb says there's not a chance of 3D technology requiring glasses to go mainstream. Take it to the bank.

I was just putting it out there as something to consider. Personally I am going to skip any new TV upgrades unless my rear projection HD dies until 3D is "reasonable".

LED TV's are great for gaming. So far out of all brands, only the Samsung's make a big difference. I don't know what they are doing different even though they are edge lit. But the lighting and colors are better. And it almost makes everything look like it's filming live through a glass window and your the director.

LG, Sony, Toshiba and so on, don't give that appearance or look close, even the new 2010 models.

If you just want a 40" or 46" The Samsung models at 120Hz look better than all other brands at their highest of 240Hz and has a higher contrast ratio.

I have a Samsung LCD and that Auto Motion Plus. It took me a while to get used to it, but now I can't watch a movie without it.
Like you said, it's like watching the movie live instead of behind a screen.

I hear so many people trash projection HD's and I really don't know why. My parents have a Sony WEGA Projection HD it's 1080 i/p and it has a damn good picture.

Thin is in.

Besides my plasma tv, I have a 52" 1080i HD RPTV. After 4 years, it still gives a very good picture--excellent black levels. Have a blu ray player and HD-DVD player hooked up to it.

It's a monster though--260 lbs. When somebody broke into my apartment I KNEW they didn't get the RPTV if it was a one-man job. Only concern was that they might have damaged it out of spite.

They actually provide better picture quality if tuned properly. I still love mine, like I said, I won't replace it until 3D is in and reasonable or it brakes.

I've got a Sammy 52' LED and it is a thing of beauty. I don't use to game very often but it def looks impressive when i do.
