Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife
I didn't completely hate the first one - would've liked it a lot more if I didn't go into it hoping for an actual Resident Evil movie.
Second one sucked. Third was alright, but fell victim to the "one scene ruins the entire movie" trap with that ****in fire and bird scene.Comment

Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife
I honestly liked the first one. The laser joint was solid. Second one was to flashy and forgettable. The third was more on track but still lacking. Regardless if it follows the game plot, there were dumb decisions made that took the joy out of the series. Still needs to be a lot darker and compulsive in the plot without it going into a path travelled by so many other. Don't know how I'm feeling about this one but I do know that I'm not paying theatre prices for it.Comment

Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife
Deep and well written???? are we talking about the same franchise here? There's nothing deep or well written about any of the past three films. They have all be pretty bad, with maybe the first one being tolerable.
This one on the other hand looks alright, looks like it'll be doing a lot in the special effects and technology department, and there also seems to be a lot of fanfare which is always a plus. However in general the two and three were pretty bad flicks.
I personally don't think your going to miss too much from skipping them all together unless your crazy about their cornball storyComment

I think the trailer filled in the plot pretty well with the first like "5 years ago there was an outbreak and everybody died" boom! you've just been educated on all previous resident evil movies.Deep and well written???? are we talking about the same franchise here? Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife
Reading through this thread again, didn't you mean Alice instead of Eve? LOL! I saw a new trailer over the weekend during Predators for this one and its looking pretty decent. Ever since the first Resident Evil, my expectation have been low for this series which has allowed me to enjoy each film. It is a shame that these didn't follow the games, but that is cool...............we get a hybrid of games and hollywood's take.Comment

Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife
One thing I've realized was that I don't know the "story" of RE period. Is there a good place to get an in depth read or something so I can see how far off Hollywood took this train off the tracks? Personally, I really liked the vibe the first one had where it was more of a 28 Days Later type of vibe. Is that not what would have gotten you guys more into the movie? Having it be a hybrid of that with a more than normal protagonist to carry it would have be solid to me.Comment

Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife
Caught the second trailer of this and thought it looked good. The first trailer made it look tacky, so hopefully they touched up the scenes shown in the first one.
