Re: Beats by Dr. Dre
They are great if you are a REGULAR music listener...if you are an audiohead...don't get these...that's the only time I hear negative stuff about them. If you aren't getting them even somewhat for the style, get cheaper ones that are the same quality...or maybe even better, I don't know. I'd also be one to shell out the extra shells for the studios if you are getting them, or at least I have heard that suggested...I am getting mine tuesday...were supposed to be here yesterday...but delays, delays.... You can get them cheap used if you don't mind...150-200...but make sure they are authentic(serial # etc.), or just get them at a bestbuy etc. and know for a fact they are...

Re: Beats by Dr. Dre
Not worth it.
Had some for a day and used them for a few hours. Quality is nice, but it sounded like I was hearing the sound through a pillow. MONSTER helped produce these do you know they are going to be over priced. A company like Sennheiser has a lot more experience with audio then they do.Comment

Re: Beats by Dr. Dre
I don't care for them. They are good for hip hop listeners because they really over power the bass. I like hard hitting bass, and its too drawn out for me and the mids and highs are really not that great.
I just got Sennheiser hd 595 for Christmas with a fios amp: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD5...9936324&sr=1-1
And they are the best headphones I ever heard! These are not noise cancelling so you can hear the outside world and other people can also hear what you are listening to because of its open design. This may be a deal breaker for some but these are designed for sound quality.
I've always thought noise cancelling would sound the best but the open air flow you get from these really makes things extremely clear and you can hear every little detail. Its like I'm listening to my music for the first time. Its like the extra air flow is needed to hear the natural sound of the music.
And I want to add how comfortable they are. I been listening to music for 2 straight hours now with out noticing them. Usually your ears get sore from wearing them too long but man not these. The type of music I been listening to is hip hop/rock/electronic/reggae. The bass is not as loud or deep as beats by dre but hits clean. I would compare how bass sounds on 10" subs to 12" subs in a car.
I would recommend these if you don't care if other people can hear what you are listening to because you can definitely hear what i'm listening to if you are around me. But again, I'm using these for home listening for music on my laptop, tv watching in my room and gaming in my room.
For half the price to dre beats you'll get a whole new experience to music and movie listening. Plus make sure to get an amp; world of difference when you have one. (don't need it if you are going to use them to listen through a receiver but I'm sure most people with use these with a portable player ie. ipod)Comment

Re: Beats by Dr. Dre
The Studios are alright. But, if you are just a casual listener, there is no point in buying the studios. Like others have said, you can get others close to or of better quality for cheaper. Sennheiser and others have similar headphones that are better.
I'm kind of a hypocrite here when I say that Beats are a waste of money because I actually have Solo HDs and had one of the earbuds, but they pretty much are a waste for the most part.
I will say that I am quite happy with the Solo HDs. They are good for working out, and everyday use (plus they are stylish and have solid sound for the price). So, if you want a set of Beats, I'd save 120-150 dollars by going with the Solos instead of the studios. The sound quality is not that much worse. I have had zero issues with mine and love them.
However, I advise everyone to completely stay away from all of the earbuds. I bought the latest pair a few months ago and they are already toast. They sounded great (for earbuds), for about 3 weeks, and then I got a short in the plug and the left earbud started going in and out. No more than a week later, I looked at the cord and it was coming apart and literally hanging on by a thread. I tried to get them replaced with the warranty, but they said that it was my fault somehow that their tiny rubber cord was coming apart.
If you are looking for a great set of earbuds, you should avoid beats like the plague, and I'd go with Sennheiser CX 500's or MX85's (if you are active and use them while running/working out) for half the price. I got the MX85's as a replacement, and they are fantastic and sound better than the beats IMO. Klipsch Image's are also solid, but are more expensive than Sennheiser CX 500's.
Although I love my Solo HD's, I will never buy another set of beats again. Beats are just a case of a brand name (and expensiveness) being more important to people than quality.Last edited by CC; 12-26-2010, 11:16 PM.Comment

Re: Beats by Dr. Dre
I bought the black studios a year ago and they are still amazing. I see they have those new ones out, but 400 is out of my budget for headphones. I got the Studios on employee discount and got them cheap. But not seeing myself plurge for more.
Studios are excellent and I wouldn't buy any other brand headphones other than beats, they are amazing.Comment

Just got these today. I love them so far. Ive never had any other kind of headphones besides the ones that come with your iPod so these are a big jump for me. Great bass! I mainly listen to Rap/Top 40 type music so these are perfect for me.

IMO they have better overall sound but the beats have more bass. My friend has a pair of beats and I like both but I prefer the Souls. Only knock is they are big and look like your gonna fly a plane
