Seriously, its not even funny how humongous the universe is.

That makes absolutely no sense at all.

Which is why I will continue to believe that we can't be alone. Just doesn't make sense. There is no space on earth that doesn't consist of some form of living species, whether it be humans, fish or bacteria. Why would the universe be so bare?

Anyone know where that huge image that shows the relative sizes of various known stars is?

Here's an image of a "region" of the "observable universe". Each spot is a galaxy, consisting of billions of stars. obviously this is how it looked millions and billions of years ago. There are an amazing 170 billion galaxies in the observable universe alone. Each galaxy is 1000-100,000 parsecs in diameter (1 parsec=19 trillion miles).

It's a near-certainty that extraterrestrial life exists. It's also a near-certainty that humanity will never encounter extraterrestrial life, though I suppose there's the remotest of possibilities that evidence of microbial life could be found on Mars, Europa, or Enceladus.

Want to really brain hurt, think about this:

There are more Stars in the Universe than Grains of Sand on Earth...

and people think we are alone
