Re: Workout Music
It all depends on the type of workout I need to have or am planning. Obviously, if I'm going to go for a 5 mile jog I don't want to listen to speed metal and burn myself out - your body does react to the tempo of music - but I'm also not going to listen to a band like Coldplay when I go in to lift. But I do exclusively listen to rock, metal, etc not so much rap or any other genre.
I have found over the years that having the music just loud enough to still be able to hear yourself breath works perfectly because it allows you to concentrate on what you're doing (lifting, running, etc) while being able to control your breathing. I've also found that slower tempo music lets me stay calm and allows me to focus before a lift.Comment

Re: Workout Music
I mostly pick music that I am familiar with and know the words to if I'm working out - it helps make the time go by faster especially if I'm doing the recumbent bike or treadmill.
