"Okay, here's the story. I come from the gutter. I know that. I got no education... but that's okay. I know the street, and I'm making all the right connections. With the right woman, there's no stopping me. I could go right to the top."

Re: Thor (2011)
Pretty good movie. It wasn't the greatest but it definitely wasn't bad.
Hems was incredible as Thor, though. Very rarely do they nail a casting quite as well as they did there.
SpoilerStaying for after the credits was totally pointless. Made no sense and I don't give one damn care about Loki. In fact, I hated, HATE Loki as a villian or hero. He just sucks, period point blank.Too Old To Game Club

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Thor (2011)
Glad I know that now.
I'm not into comics or know to much about the Thor character or to many of the villains. I also thought it was completely pointless and boring when I first saw it, I knew it obviously had some type of meaning but, I just had no idea what it was as a "average fan" of hero movies.

Re: Thor (2011)
Just watched it. I don't really know how else to say this, but I just kind of thought it was... gay. I guess the biggest issue is the Marvel tie-in: I see Iron Man, Spider-Man, hell even The Incredible Hulk and then there's this ulterior space thing with these giant blue enemies with freezing powers, and I don't like the connections.
I was dismissive with the first trailers, but trusted Marvel would make things a bit more enticing. There were about twenty minutes of promise when he first interacted with Natalie Portman's character, but then more silly guys with costumes had to show up and just kind of make things weird again. I guess if I appreciated that kind of movie a little more I would find more value in this one, but again with the Marvel connection... I guess it would be akin to Zac Snyder's next Superman movie tying in with Nolan's Batman universe. The only way I could accept it is if Superman was just some super strong dude with a bulletproof vest and a jet pack. Outside of that, these two worlds don't seem to "exist" in the same way.
I admired the mortal version of Thor as well as all of the characters on Earth, but everything else kind of just sucked me out of it. Too much CGI, too much fantasy. I suppose I should have expected this from this movie just by the trailers though.

I think they did a great job of making Thor more sci-fi than magic. It presents a plausible enough explanation that allows it to exist with the rest of the Marvel film universe.Comment

Re: Thor (2011)
Well, what do you expect, a guy who has a hammer with some kind of electric backpack/suit to call forth his "thunder"? You can't do hyper-reality with Thor and it wouldn't be Thor without all the fantasy that goes with it.

So again, introducing Superman in Nolan's Batman universe would just be cruel if he was the invincible flying juggernaut that he is. Because of that, he shouldn't be introduced in there at all. I guess I just went in with hopes and dreams that Thor wouldn't be too far out there, so that's definitely my fault.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Thor (2011)
No exactly, what Marvel did with it was the best that I think they could do. I guess I just have a tough time accepting Thor as part of the Marvel universe then, despite the fact that it is indeed that, a universe. I had problems with Hulk as well, but they make it sciencey enough, like you said, for it to be acceptable.

Both universes have the same tone so I don't know what you're complaining about.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: Thor (2011)
Maybe I've just had different expectancies. And I'm not a fan of comics, I'll be the first to admit it. I never watched the cartoons or anything, not for Batman or Spider-Man or Iron Man or Superman or Aquaman (good lord I hope no one did). The movies appeal to me because of this slight realm of connection I can have with them, that they have even somewhat of a real world setting. Thor had this on Earth for a short amount of time, but the rest of the time was spent on the far reaches of space and will be tied in with the rest of the Marvel universe. We'll see where this goes from here, but I personally wasn't a big fan of the movie.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
