Yeah, have played real football, I always hated when kids would suggest playing tackle football anytime aside from when there's a good amount of snow on the ground.

Aside from it being dangerous in concept, so many of the kids lacked basic football knowledge and thought that grabbing people by the neck and other such was appropriate.

      lmfao!!!!!

I play whenever my neighborhood gang plays another gang....yes.... CripFL...lol....and there's always hits like the ones in this video. I mainly play FB and OLB (pass rusher...Derrick Thomas style! haha!). Not to mention there's so many guys in these gangs that are/were tremendous athletes and potential D1 recruits in high school that took the wrong path. Also these games are also a good time for the neighborhood. Everybody comes out, plenty of music and barbecue....good stuff and keeps the guys out of trouble for an hour or two at least. lol

That is how it was for me anyway until I got used to it and then It's smooth sailing from there unless you injure yourself or someone else does.
I understand that and all, but it's not something I'm going to put my body through. I played football little league through high school, but playing in pads and without pads is so much different. The last couple times I played tackle (minus pads) I only walked away with a busted lip once, black eye and bum shoulder the next time. I'm in good shape, it wasn't muscle soreness that got to me, just good ol' fashion pain. I got tackled by 2 guys and fell on my shoulder, took it about a week or so to get back to normal.

I've played a couple games of tackle football here during college with no pads and each time I've left sorta banged up. I like the thrill of it but there's no way my body can take that punishment consistently.
The last time I seriously played a game of pick-up tackle football, I almost had to go to the hospital.

It was totally my fault though...

We were playing legit 11-on-11 with linemen and everything. I was one of the few there that had actually played. I was playing middle linebacker and I was decent in high school, so I felt like I should have been making every tackle on any play for whatever reason... pretty silly looking back. I knew the QB on the other team, and he was a big kid. 6'3''ish with a solid build... he was my buddy's roommate. Well, he ran an option to my left, and I read it perfectly and followed him down the line. He went to cut off his right tackle's *** and I jumped in to fill the hole. I was pissed because I wasn't playing that well, so I thought Ok, I'll just lay him out with a good form tackle and get my confidence back. I hit him perfect. I got my head across his body, kept my eyes up, knees bent... just how you're taught to tackle. Well, when I woke up, I was staring up at my friends above me. I got knocked out. My head hit his hip and that's the last thing I remember until I woke up. I wasn't out long... maybe four or five seconds. But it sucked.

Ever since, when I play tackle, I'm very conservative. I don't want to get hurt again. It's just not worth it.

Re: TownBeef - No Pads Tackle Football

That's one of my fears too. I like to go out and try to be an "intimidator" but when it comes to form tackling without pads, I won't do it, at least not all the way to the ground unless I can get my head inside. I just throw the shoulder into them if I can or swing em down.

I was wrestling with one of my friends freshman year in the dorm for fun (smh) and did the same thing. I just picked him up in perfect form, head on his hip, and slammed him, but went head first into the ground. I didn't knock myself out, but I scraped part of the skin off the top of my head and bled. Since then I'm very cautious.

There is one rule I have when it comes to deciding on what sports to play at my age (26).

"Don't play anything that has a high risk of an injury that could keep me from working. Sports do not pay the bills."

I play adult league softball (2nd base) and sure there is a chance of injury there too, but when you are playing tackle football without pads you are risking serious injury.

Agree 100% with this. I am an adult and I can`t afford to be knocked out of work because of some tackle football injury. Also I really don`t want to be limping around and beat up.

Man it sucks being small dude. I would love to get in on this. But realistically I would just get run over i mean im 5'6 a hundred and nothing, it would be like a 5 year old trying to play HS football but it looks fun as heck.

Those dude are prob mellow as heck in real life cause they take out all of their frustrations on the field.

If I had insurance, i'd do it.

There's gotta be at least 1 fight minimum per game

flag league i played in for a few years (in reston, va) there was no tackling allowed, but get this, you could stiff arm on offense. it was insane, dudes would basically get punched in the face by ball carriers. needless to say there were at least a handful of parking lot brawls like every week. intense league...
