On a police raid when they're ruining in with the cops the first people they're endangering is themselves, but you could argue that's their desicion.

The second people being endangered are the cops, as they now have a factor, they are likely not trained for, introduced into a already dicy situation.

And the third is the suspects. Once agian, most raids are centered around a low grade "shock and awe" tactics that are not designed to add the factors of a news crew being in the middle of it.

Well if the lead cop is listening to a producer then I can see that. Dont know why the cop would listen to a producer but peoples actions dont really surprise me anymore.

The few shows I have ever seen involving a raid didnt have the camera crew go in during the action. The crew would film them going in and then when officers cleared the building they would go in. Now since I dont watch these shows I dont know if that has changed. The camera crew outside shouldnt be an issue but I dont like the idea of the camera crew trying to enter as the cops are still clearing the building.

No, but it is the TV's show that it was caught on tape.

If not for the show the police could claim that the child came at them like a spidermonkey and they had no choice.

There's a substantive difference between "the press" writ large and a film crew that has a specific agreement with a police department to go film their raids for a TV series. If "the press" shows up to cover a raid in a public area, that is their right. This type of synergistic agreement seems different than that on a basic level and I would hope that prohibiting this sort of thing. If "the press" just came over and started following the cops into someone's house on a random raid without authorization, I'm sure the cops could legally get rid of them without it being subject to a court challenge.

lol.....so funny yet so sad at the same time. Such a tragic and senseless loss. I can't imagine what the family has gone and is going through.

Which is the EXACT REASON you can't prohibit the press from being there.

They can't prohibit the press from covering police actions in a public area, but they can sever their agreement with this particular film crew/production company, as it is far outside the normal realm of the press-police relationship. That's all this is. The freaking mayor wasn't even aware of the agreement, but surely he can terminate it.

You aren't prohibiting them from being there. You are prohibiting them from signing a contract with the city and running in with a swat team on a bust.

This and Philadelphia banned the SAME reality show..

But Im also a believer of Liberty > Safety

However, this "crew" wasnt a news crew that wpuld stand in front of the house doing a report...Where talking about a reality TV show on CABLE...NoT COPS, this show is intense and wants to get ratings instead of giving education..

Paper work was signed, it isnt like the crew just came out of nowhere and started filming like a regular film crew or a guy from youtube...

The fact that I read in one of the articles that the crew recorded some footage of the raid and it hasnt been posted on the web yet (to my knowledge) proves that either 1. paper work was signed or 2. Graphic footage was recorded (the show is TV MA)
