The trailers with "power by Kanye West" are really cool, something aout that song that makes the trailers seem really suspenseful

      Re: The Social Network

This is a big pass for me. I just don't see the appeal, some kid hits on a great idea at the right time gets rich beyond his wildest dreams, makes friends and looses friends, end of story. I can't think of the last time I logged into my facebook account, it was cool for about a month then went the way of My Space for me. IMO all these "social networking" pages or mediums are making people less social cause for the most part it's all happening behind computer screens and not face to face. I know there are people who use it to get together with friends and such but that percentage isn't as big as big as you think. If I can find a good cam copy I might give it a look.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

        Re: The Social Network

I'm not looking at it as a "facebook movie" but just looking at the age old themes of greed, betrayal, etc.. Not to mention a social commentary on this generation. Fincher is an excellent director, which is why I don't write this off, despite the putrid casting of Justin Timberlake. I can't stand seeing him on screen where a real actor should be.

The trailers have all been very impressive.

I bet 1/3 of the people go see this movie just for Justin Timberlake. And another 1/3 go see this for Jesse Eisneberg. With the rest going to see it just to see it.

Yeah he plays Sean Parker, the guy who created Napster and was the advisor to the creators of Facebook and was even the president of facebook until he was arrested for cocaine possession. After that he was kicked out of Facebook and after that he joined the Founders Fund as a managing partner. He has a networth of $924 million.

Where as Mark Zuckerberg networth is $6.9 billion. Not bad for a college drop out huh ?

Yeah, the trailer with the Creep cover is tremendous. That's a really powerful version of the song.

I doubt anyone goes to see it for Timberlake. He's been in quite a few movies at this point, all of them box office and critical failures (aside from that Shrek movie he did a voice in, like a Shrek movie isn't going to make money regardless). His mainstream notoriety hasn't translated to the big screen. Nor would it with this movie, as he just has a small role, where he doesn't really have to act or anything. You can tell by the trailer they cast him in the safest possible role, where he just has to come on screen and act cool instead of actually putting on a performance and hurting the movie.

Don't laugh at me, but I thought Timberlake was alright in Alpha Dog.

Getting amazing reviews so far. 100% through 14 on RT. One guy even said "As of today, it's the best American picture of the year, likely to sweep Oscar nominations and awards."

Looks like this movie is gonna be great even if you think you are to cool for facebook.

Yeah with the writer and director, I was excited for this from day one, but the reviews that are coming in are amazing.

I didn't, at all. But with such a horrible movie, it's not like you could really notice how bad he was. Wasn't the least bit convincing, that's his problem. He just seems like Justin Timberlake trying to act.

How is that fair? Just because the movie is facebook related? Understand that this film is going to go much deeper than Facebook. And it's coming from a highly talented director, while it was written by a highly talented writer.

I can careless that it is facebook related......It is just that this type of story has been told before several times and don't scream movie of the year to me.
