    Re: The Walking Dead

Can't say enough how much I loved the premiere. This has got me hooked for the long haul, because they actually understand that it's about the survivors, not about shocking us with constant zombie gore. Much better this way, as there is always that constant reminder in the back of your head that there just may be a zombie around the corner, let alone 100's of them.

The scene where Rick rides around the corner into the wall of zombies is absolutely startling, as was the shot of the swarming on top of the tank.

    Can't wait for next week!

Yea, that entire sequence was thrilling.

All episode you get this feeling, this fear that several zombies would just come out at once. For over an hour, Rick meets one or two zombies. When there are zombies swarming around, the people are protected in a home.

That last scene, was a culmination of all that wait, that anxiety in wondering: what would you do if there were hundreds of them?

As I watched, I just didn't know how he was going to get out of it.

As you mentioned, there's always that constant reminder that a zombie could be right around the corner or hiding somewhere. It's horror/drama. I think this series is something television needed for years.

Romero's newer zombie films have been terrible, the zombies are an afterthought. Same with those stupid Resident Evil movies. I liked TWD's portrayal of the zombies, some of them as bloodthirsty cannibals, others as sympathetic trapped souls.

I don't know, I'm hopeful it can keep up its momentum, but I'm questioning how far it can go past a few seasons.
After last night's episode, which should have been apparent to everyone this is a very character driven show. As long as the characters introduced are kept interesting and fresh, this can go on for many seasons. I think you have probably seen Romero's zombie films........none of his films are about the zombies, but underlying tones/messages about our society in the current time period. Now granted his movies have not been the greatest with the last few installments........but I see this series going the same route with character driven plots. I never read the comic books for The Walking Dead, so this is some good stuff so far and the zombies, well, are the icing on the cake for me.

AMC has the best shows on tv. Why are people worrying about how long this concept will last? The first episode was one of the best pilots I've seen.

I won't go to far into detail, but in a show like this sometimes the living are far worse than the dead.

^ Come on dude, don't allude to **** like that, those of us who haven't read the comics don't want storyline reveals.

                  Put spoilers on that stuff.

Jason, not sure how many zombie movies you have watched........95% of the time the living is much worse than the dead because conflict is always around every corner with the survivors. Going in, I expected that and just from this first episode we know there will be internal conflict and I have never read the comics.

Lol, I realize that, but when you literally KNOW how a show ends, and then allude to things to come... I dunno, I just want to not have ANYTHING revealed, otherwise what's the point of discussing? Now I'm sitting here KNOWING to look for some human conflict, instead of just wondering if it could happen and maybe still being surprised. I just don't want people who know the direction this series will go coming in and saying multiple things along the lines of "oh trust me, this will not go how you are saying it will"... let me figure that out on my own dammit!

So, please help me here and refresh my mind as I'm bad with televison faces early in a series.

Haha, there's already been foreshadowing of human conflict. I don't see how you couldn't expect that since zombies are too two dimensional to ever be a constant and evolving threat over the course of the series.
