    Re: Judge Dredd remake

The first poster for the Judge Dredd reboot has been released.

It features Karl Urban's Dredd shrouded in darkness, with light falling on iconic parts of the character's outfit: the helmet, the badge, the lawgiver.

Directed by Peter Travis (Vantage Point and Endgame), Dredd will see the most famous Street Judge take on terrorist Ma-Man (Lena Headey), as she attacks Mega-City One with a reality-warping drug. But he won't be alone: Olivia Thirlby plays Cassandra Anderson, a rookie with psychic abilities.

Dredd is out in the UK on September 7, 2012 and in the US on September 21, 2012.

They might as well make a movie about paman at this point if this is the kind of stuff they want to remake

I think Judge Dredd was the first R-rated movie I ever saw in a theater. I was 13 when the original came out.

Will probably check it out once it hits blu-ray, it'll only cost me bandwidth at that point.

The Stallone Judge Dredd helmet looked better than this one....it looks way too big in this version..

So who is he? Is this the dude who played Bones in the Star Trek movie? This looks like something that should go direct to Sci-Fi... I mean Sci-Fy... I mean Sye-Fye.... forget it.

                      Re: Judge Dredd remake

Looks like no one saw this in the theaters, but it is getting great BD/DVD Reviews. Looks like a nice little birthday present to myself...

'Dredd' is the best action film of 2012, as well as one of the most faithful comic book adaptations of all time. Karl Urban becomes Dredd, and Lena Headey is downright despicable as the notorious Ma-Ma. The movie is relentless and driving, nothing but pure action from start to finish. The 3D transfer on this Blu-ray disc is absolutely stunning, with incredible clarity and immense depth with almost no ghosting. The 2D transfer isn't quite as immaculate, with unfortunate digital noise in many of the darker shots. The DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 mix is bold and aggressive, one of the best I've heard all year, and Neo:X compatible if your receiver can handle it. Sadly, the extras here are meager.

If you didn't see this movie, and judging by worldwide box office receipts most people didn't, please heed all the good reviews and buy this Blu-ray. There are literally hundreds of stories that can be culled from the 'Judge Dredd' universe, and according to writer/producer Alex Garland, he had some big plans for future installments. If enough people buy this Blu-ray and show the studio that there's an audience for more 'Dredd' material, that might be enough to get someone to green light a sequel.

As a comic book fan, and an action movie fan, I urge every one of you who reads this to go out and buy a copy. If you don't comply...you will be judged.

You're not watching Dredd for a substantial story or complex characters. This is a bang-bang shoot-'em-up that's all about delivering excitement, and it does a terrific job at it. The disc looks and sounds fantastic, especially in 3D, and there's an interesting, if limited collection of extras. If you enjoy a all-out action flick. you can't go wrong with Dredd.

Haven't seen it but most online reviewers are loving this movie (blu ray). I'm highly surprised.

4/5 for the movie and 4.5/5 overall

A lot of good reviews for the action so that is quite cool.

I'd rather seen a remake of Demolition Man.

I thought it was great. Went in with little-to-no expectations and was really surprised. Definitely one of the best action movies of the year. Much more enjoyable than something like Expendables 2. Also the Judge's guns are probably in the top 5 all time of movie guns.

I watched this last night with similar expectations and I thought it was awesome. This movie is certainly not for the squeamish as it is crazy violent but I loved it. This movie should be a video game: 200 story apartment building where you fight your way to the top, sign me up.
