Re: No Ordinary Family
I really enjoyed it. Seems more fitting as a movie than a TV show, but enjoyed the aspects of the show.
Spoiler
Like that there are others, but I hope it's all explained how there are others. Why was "Night Crawler" in jail when he easily could have shape shifted himself out? I like the last guy is going to be dealing with electricity.
Has a Heroes vibe, just not as serious and more fun. The comedy aspect of it will keep the show going. "I have a lair..with Wi-Fi?!" *high five*
I'm guessing this all goes back to the plant that is in Brazil that's "really old".
Again, not sure how this has a long life, but really enjoyed the first episode. Laid a good ground work for the show and the characters. Can't wait to see where they go from here.

I liked it too. It was fun and I really like the art direction of how they show their abilities. The fight scene at the end was awesome.Comment

Re: No Ordinary Family
I enjoyed this as well, though there being more people with special abilities than them, kind of makes this another Heros to me. Still gonna watch the entire season though.Comment

Re: No Ordinary Family
I enjoyed it as well.
In the beginning, I keep waiting for Vic Mackey or Dexter to show up, about halfway I almost bailed on the show, but the ending save the show for me, at least for a couple of weeks.Comment

Re: No Ordinary Family
I skipped it because it looked too much like an Incredibles or Fantastic Four pastiche for my tastes. Did it remind anyone of that?
I suppose i'll go on the CTV site and watch it based on the answer to that question.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: No Ordinary Family
I think that's the audience they are trying to attract. Honestly, I'm surprised this type of show was never made in the 80s."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: No Ordinary Family
Those type of shows were very popular (or at the very last made a lot) in the late '70s/early '80s with shows like Bionic Woman, Six Million Dollar Man, Man from Atlantis, Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk etc etc. Although those shows were often a little more light hearted and goofy in tone compared to the material that they were inspired by or remaking.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

But yes, this one seems to be much more mature rather than goofy which I'm sure an 80s version of would have been."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: No Ordinary Family
I think they made a mistake by giving the son braniac like powers when the mother is already a scientist at a pharmacutical company. I think his power should have been to shapeshift orhave absorbing powers like that kid on Ben 10 Alien Force( yeah I said it. I got kids too ya know)Comment

The easy thing to catch onto here is that each power fits what that person wanted most.
Mother was busy and didn't have time for family so she's super fast so she can be everywhere when needed (love that the mother has this power rather than the father. Role reversals are always interesting concepts on television).
Dad finds himself as caretaker of the family so he's given super strength to protect them.
Daughter is your typical high school teenage girl wishing she could understand life and now she can read everyone's mind.
Son struggles with school work and is given the intelligence to comprehend complicated math formulas and whatever else they add to the equation.
It fits with a lot of the things you see normal (ordinary) families deal with on a daily basis. We get that. But, I agree, it seems a bit short sighted to give a child super intelligence while the mother is already incredibly intelligent. I guess the real point is that while mother is very smart, she takes it for granted. Intelligence is not what she wants to give her family. Son will appreciate his gift much more."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
