Yeah i'm thinking that means it burns dvd and cd's but not blu's. Not a major issue yet but i guess it could be down the track as blu's slowly take over as the norm. That could be part of the big difference in cost. Just something to take into consideration.

Re: Blu-ray laptops
Certainly. I suppose if that was up my alley I would consider the purchase for the $1299 model more heavily, but at this point I just don't show much concern for stuff like that. I think I'm very satisfied with my purchase.Last edited by Blzer; 08-15-2010, 10:35 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Blu-ray laptops
Yeah i have the dearer one and have never used the BR burner once. Everything i download is usually in avi / mpeg format that fits easily on standard dvd's anyway. Might come in handy later but it's def not crucial. The laptop does weight a heap though, luckily i mainly use mine like a desktop but it's not the most portable notebook in the world that's for sure.Comment

Re: Blu-ray laptops
With the price of external and portable hard drives being so cheap I don't ever see blu-ray burners being necessity.Comment
